This is the exact reason he was picked , TDK was spent ,Levi dominated the ruck and took some good marks..

Wasn’t Levi’s greatest game but he played a role. TDK can’t ruck the whole game, and if we went in with say JSOS as the ruck support, would’ve robbed us of the fantastic pressure JSOS brought on forward line last night.

They smashed us in the clearances 45-20 (largely thanks to ruck dominance, and Mundys good work), had more I50's than us and more scoring shots.

Inaccuracy cost them.

Some promising signs from the youngsters though (Dow, Stocker and Kennedy) with Stocker in particular looking to have found his feet at the level.

Weitering (BOG for us) and Jones did what they do, Newman, Plowman and Saad all good (Newman really pulled the trigger on a lot of risky kicks, that luckily came off).

I dont know what it is about JSOS but we're just a better side when he plays. He really straightens us up.

I'll take the win though.

I believe in him. Enormously. People talk a lot about culture at the club and bag Teague. Bag the coaches. They def have their share of responsibility to take for this year. So do individual players. The fact guys like MCG and Williams turn up out of shape shits me to tears. The fact Paddy Dow esrly this year was happy to ‘socialise’ like he did when he should be recovering and getting up to train disappoints me. He just wasn’t (and isn’t) at the fitness level he needs to be.

NO he doesn’t have to do it. He doesn’t have to choose to be his best. But apparnelty he has felt hard done by.

My prefernce as a fan is that Carlton players feel hard done by when they’ve given it their all. Not before then.

Psddy could be absolutely anyhting but his fitness is still a mile off. He’s playing 1.5 quarters a week right now then hitting the wall. He DOES look a little fitter and so maybe the penny has dropped. And if it has, awesome.

If he drops off a bit and is dumped from the side I hope those around him give him home truths. Not bag the coach for lack of opportunities.

Paddy Dow will get every chnace he deserves. He is going to have to really lift his fitness. He’s def not there yet. Don’t declare victory yet Paddy. Not at all. Wake up. Run. Trainer harder than last time. Repeat.

I say this because I believe in him. Not because I want to bag him. I think his hands below his knees combined with his power are top 1 percent in the afl. He could be a reason we win a flag.

He could also become an in and out player who gets nowhere. It’s up to Paddy.

Im cheering for him. I’m also allowed to be disappointed.

Has the potential to be an all time great of this foot ball club, hopefully he soon has a team around him that can challenge for deep finals run/a flag.

The way he bounced back from 2nd and 3rd season Blues has been wonderful.

If he doesn't make the AA team this season, I am going down to City Hall with pitchforks.

The elephant in the room isn’t it. Not sure he plays again this year, but after missing 2 1/2 years of footy with lower leg injuries, you have to wonder where he slots back in to this team.

Like most players who do acl's - far better for each year of continuous footy once they come back.

Without Levi we lose that. Halved the last q with Darcy who was totally having his way with TDK all night. Huge effort after a pretty ordinary first 3 quarters.

Think your being generous here Cas didnt go into the ruck until deep into the quarter well after we had arrested freos momentum and we where 7 points up .
Terrific effort to will ourselves back into the game after being dominated for a long period whilst Levi had no impact in the turnaround .

He was more than ordinary for all bar about the last 8 minutes of the last quarter .
Liability in the air and on the ground

Competed well for a few ruck contests and took 1 Levi special contested mark .
But shouldnt be retained off this performance and his struggles the whole year .

He should watch some petracca this year compared to any season before and see what can happen with excellent preparation.

Pre season 19/20 it started, did a lot of work with travis boak, along New girlfriend who's into his personal development helped considerably

McKay nowhere near our bests. Probably one of the poorer 3 goal KPF games I’ve seen.
Looking at the glass half full though, it’s better to have a poor game and kick three than a poor game and kick diddly.
McKay struggling without a second KPF.
Casboult provided zip until moved into the ruck in the last. Changed the momentum of the game that move.

Teagues mantra was to open up the attacking flair and senior player in pivotal roles

Problem was, Teague kept ramping up the speed of the gamplan

Dow was rightfully dropped and has been better after stints at VFL level

That was the best I've seen JSOS clunk his marks to date, hope his shoulders give him a good run at it, as others have observed - he makes us better. Dow is at a critical point in his career, this is when he goes on with it or falls back. That first half was fantastic. The players looked to be happy with DT at the end, not sure this story is concluded yet, see how it plays out.

He’s 28 in October. He’s arguable not in our best back 6, and with his lower body injuries + age, will definitely not be getting any quicker to consistently play on a wing. Let’s see what he looks like at the start of next season when he’s back.

Are we seeing the start of playing games consistently with sustained effort and purpose? I did not expect us to hold on after three quarter time but we controlled the quarter and were strong defensively.

There is still so much to work on and we're still very much in a phase where our future progress is in the hands of our youth. Hopefully this winning feeling is contagious amongst the younger guys in particular and drives them to greater heights. Bolts used to say that we will be defined by our effort and there is nothing truer. Our chances of winning start and finish with effort levels.

Good team performance but still carrying a few. I reckon Eddie goes around again next year. So clever and a great competitor. Weitering just awesome down back. Rapped with JSOS. Plenty of good contributions from a large spread of players. Please keep this going Blues.
