i volunteered to be the swans representative in the phantom draft but i would appreciate some input from you to make sure we get some good players in this phantom draft

ive made a list of a few names to pick up at pick 16
i just wanted to know who u thought we should get

I have 2 questions, is there anything decent comming out of Nsw that we could consider for our later picks, and what about the father/son rule is there anything we could work there ??

I have prepared a list of tall defenders and midfielders as these are the two areas the swans need more strength

they are in no particular order:

TALL DEFENDERS
Will Gayfer - from Corowa-Rutherglen (not too far from Sydney i suppose) 192cms, 92kg
Michael Johnson , 194cm, 92kg, from Perth
David Mundy , 190cm, 83kg, from Seymour
Michael Pettigrew , 192cm, 80kg, from West Perth
Chris Stewart , 193cm, 80kg, Northern Knights

MIDFIELDERS
Brock McLean 182cm, 86kg, from Calder Cannons

sorry forgot some

Dean Chester 178cm, 66kg, from Portland
Adam Bentick 184cm, 79kg from Calder Cannons
Jacob Surjan 179cm, 75kg from South Fremantle
Brent Stanton 180cm, 76kg from Northern Knights

some of these players will be well and truly gone by the time pick 16 comes around but thats ok

NSW/ACT Rams Players

I found some details of some young nsw players:

Nick Potter 180cm, 78kg
Jared Kahlefeldt 179cm, 70kg
David Trotter 185cm, 77kg

Trotter is the only player of these 3 to be selected in the draft camp. He plays for Calder Cannons in the TAC Cup but represented NSW/ACT in the State Championships. He is the one i would pick ahead of the rest. He is from the Riverina apparently. On the AFL site hes described as an inside running forward/defender. Definetly worth a look in the draft.

i need some opinions from you guys as to who i should pick up in this phantom draft!!!

Id like to pick up Trotter with our second round pick if his still available, or if we're really kean use our first on him, but unlikely.

Yeah Trotter for 2nd round (i'm good mates with his sisters!)

seeing as you know him, can you please give me some unbiased info on him

is he better than Kahlefeldt and Potter?

sorry waspy not a huge draft expert but he represented australia in ireland last year (where i am living), and captain of assumption college, highly rated by Kevin Sheehan

tall versatile player who can play midfield or key position, attended draft camp but had groin surgery so didn't really participate also missed calder cannons gf as a result

from what i've read so far he would be expected to go early to mid 2nd round so may not be available by the time our 2nd pick comes around

difficult to rank him against potter (& don't really know the other guy) as injured himself in u/18 championships in first game (although i think he may have kicked 2-3 goals before going off)

i would hope that potter would still be around for our 3rd round pick although that may be a bit optimistic

"maybe Mclean if his available or Moody."

Whilst McLean is a big chance there is no way that Moody will end up on the Swans list and for that matter neither will Pettigrew!

thanks for your input

i'm beggining to like will gayfer
very impressive
if he's still around i'll take him, then mundy probably (both murray bushrangers players)

i'll take trotter or archibald with the second pick
maybe potter or kahlefeldt with the third pick

not really sure about the lower picks

by the way, i'm thinking of picking up a total of 4 players in the draft but should we maybe get 5 or 6?

The draft is on Monday so i just want to see what you all think about who we should pick up

These are some players for each pick we have and the order of preference:

PICK 16:
Brock McLean
Ryley Dunn
Will Gayfer
David Mundy
David Trotter
(we should be able to get one of these murray bushranger guys)

PICK 29:
All of the above will be gone except for maybe Trotter so i'll take him if he's available
Chris Stewart
Luke Peel
Jacob Surjan
Daniel McConnell
Luke Herrington
Brent Stanton

PICK 45 and 47:
All of the above if still available
Kyle Archibald
Jake Furfaro
Adam Bentick

PICK 63:
All of the above...
Nick Potter
Rowan Bonson

The draft was last night and i ended up getting:

PICK 16: David Mundy (tall defender)

PICK 29: David Trotter (a steal at 29!)

PICK 45: Brent Stanton (a quick and talented midfielder, good to get at pick 45)

PICK 47: Nick Potter (took the NSW boy with the last pick, has had injury worries i think but he sounds like a pretty good player)

Passed with pick 59 to pick someone up at the pre-season draft

I was very happy with the 4 i got, they are the type of players the swans need and i'm sure they would be pretty happy if they picked these four up at the real draft.

Dont think you should have picked up Mundy with pick 16 as we already have plenty of rising defenders but none other than McVeigh coming into the midfield. I hope the swans realise this.
