We're setting up at stoppages so differently compared to last year and are already improving our delivery into the forward 50. Along with Brodie Smith delivering ball playing off the wing (he'll be the best wingman in the league by the end of the year), plus the fact that we're no longer going with 3 talls which was a horrendous idea to begin with.

I keep thinking of the wet game last year, the one where we played Richmond at AAMI, Tex, Pods & Jenkins playing as the three talls, it was absolutely stupid and that game was a massive game in terms of finals. We look a lot quicker as a result. We only needed to improve a tiny little bit to make finals, there's no question there's talent at our disposal we just needed the right setup and coach to make it happen.

Ellis-Yolmen already making a huge difference to the team, Dangerfield is being used on the outside a lot more than Sloane currently. I can't wait for Brad Crouch to return.

Midfield of Jacobs Sloane, Danger, Smith, Douglas, B. Crouch, Ellis-Yolmen <- that right there could be the best midfield in the league by the end of next year. We're looking at Douglas who's probably going to be the 5th best Mid and the four before him are all AA quality mids, that's a lot of depth. Haven't even mentioned M.Crouch or Lyons yet. Obviously they all need to rotate through the midfield and Walsh is already giving Sloane and Danger large spells in the forward line. It's probably why Walsh said on the couch that he's not worrying about tagging a quality mid, he's just using someone as a cooler, why the **** would you bother tagging when you have a midfield like ours?
Sloane & Danger are already in the top 15 Mids in the comp, maybe top 10, if Brodie stays on the wing for the duration of this year then he'll make AA no doubt, opposition coach lets Brodie get 20 on the wing and it's good night, tag him or Danger or Sloane. So that's three top quality high class mids, then add Crouch into that list who I think will end up better than all three of them and that's a nasty combo to come up against.

You back this midfield in every single game and they'd win, every single time. It's a shame that we didn't make finals the last two years with the talent we have at our disposal, wtf were we doing with Laird last year anyway? He's an absolute gun yet was mismanaged terribly.

Talents always been there, just stupid talk about contested football for the last few years without worrying about what happens when we lose the contested ball has screwed us over bigtime, structures were terrible, luckily we now have Walsh who knows what he's doing.

So that seems to say if after 7 years i sign a 4 year deal.. and I'm in the top 25% of TPP... I'm still a restricted free agent after being at the club for 11 years?
That's definitely how I read it.

So if Sloane signs for 4, he'll still (hopefully) be RFA in 2019

Amongst the average football supporter I'd say it still is. I tend to place more stock in things like the Coaches POTY award.
Not only that, it factors into contract valuations and FA compensation I think. I agree with Sanders, it shouldn't carry that much weight, but it still does.

Wandering off topic here, but if they used the coaches votes on Brownlow night instead of the umpire votes would this diminish the award in any way?
Wouldn't it be great to see both sets of votes lined up round by round

Very well put

I particularly like how we move into the forward line. Getting more options and some easier entries

I like Phil's emphasis on deciding what to do based on what's ahead of you.

Sounds very obvious but we weren't doing it. It was dob it on Eddie's head or nothing

A bit off topic but does anyone have any news on any possible contract news for Adelaide... 16 un contracted players and 21 rounds of football left if my maths is correct that's a signing every 1.3 weeks until the end of football season...
Not including mr aish of course

Dangerfield has gone from averaging 1 tweet a day, something he has done all year and off season, to averaging 3 tweets a day this month. Has something happened where the constant "don't leave","come to the tigers", "can't wait to see you at the cats" replies he gets to every comment no longer bother him?

I'm not sure but that graph looks like a L for leaving
