This won’t be a popular statement:

BUT
Barrass I would trade to get one of them ..... preferably Serong.

You high on Harry? You want an actual Harry wearing the highpants? Something, something Prince Harry?

Anyone else get the feeling (apart from EP that is) that the Cats will come out and absolutely stink it up against the Tigers and ruin our slim top 4 chances? Maybe the Crows can beat the tigers in the last round??

I'm more confident of Geelong beating Richmond than of us beating the Saints tbh

Apparently some out of control partying going on at the GC hotel with all the Vic's "quarantining" and Gil is not happy, and wants to remind everyone there that they are not on holiday (lol) and that he won't think twice about sending people home (double lol).

Richmond to get points taken off for a third breach?? Surely we can all chip in for some escorts and get them sent to some Richmond rookies room, then alert the media, top 4 is ours.

A cunning plan indeed.

Cue to Nesbit to get on the phone and ring “ The Tent People”.

I would imagine the conversation going as such:

Black Ops .... this is Eagle 1 do you read me ?

Roger that.

You best come in and be briefed for a special assignment..... please have your Queensland assets on standby.

Affirmative and Roger.

Lions (5 day break) vs Suns (10 day break)

Any chance of a helpful upset?
It will be the Suns 2nd game in 19 days, no wonder they have been on the piss. I'd give em a 35-40% chance of knocking off the Lions.

For all the talk about the Eagles being rubbish away from home, Brisbane will go through the entire 2020 season playing 4 matches outside of Qld. They lost 2, and one of the wins was a 1 point victory over North Melbourne in Tassie.

No football in Tassie this year.

It was at Metricon stadium, Gold Coast.

What? There were no games in Tassie. That was on the Gold Coast.

FTR they have played 3 games outside of Qld. Two of them in Sydney during the whole hubbing stage, with their only away game being round 1 at the MCG. They're only finally sending them up to Cairns in the second last round. Would have thought they could have played a few more games up there to balance out their home run a bit.

Ummmm

Very tough question.

Short answer probably not.

OA hasn’t shown that he can play as a KPP in any of the four spots, plus he can pinch hit in the ruck.
Such a versatile skill set is rare.

Ooft big call... KPD's like Barrass and Gov are sooo rare!

I definitely think Serong shows a lot more than Braycerra. Serong has a bit of grunt, takes marks and is seriously quick. Braycerra are standard accumulators IMO.

Remember that was a reply to a hypothetical question.
We would only ever trade a player of that status if they requested a trade.

Sadly we are stuck with the midfield depth that we currently have for another year.

Given where our draft picks are this year even if we drafted three mids the likelihood of them playing next year is remote.

We haven’t been able to draft the necessary midfield backup / depth players so we now sleep in the bed we made.

Is it Ideal ???? hell no.

But they are the facts.

not really that helpful, unless the Lions absolutely implode, and choke in their last 2. Might give the Cats some inventive though to go really hard at Richmond to try and pinch top spot?

No? We'd only have to win our game the day after them to leapfrog them on the ladder (not much difference in %)

I genuinely think the club has had every intention of drafting the best mids they could in recent years. Unfortunately they haven't struck the midfield gold they were hoping for...

2015– selected Partington with our first selection (never eventuated)
2016– Venables with our first (hasn't eventuated)
2017- Brander with our first (KPF but couldn't ignore)
2018- Kelly, XON

I don't think any team has the midfield depth to adequately cover the loss of two of their 3 A grade mids, plus two of their B grade. Our KPP may just be our saving grace, given our defence and forward line is so strong, it might allow us to win anyway.

The other thing to remember, is that you can have gun young players in the 2s as depth, but if they don't get opportunities they will leave anyway. Happened with Josh Kennedy from Hawks to Swans and Tom Mitchell the other way. Could also argue we lost Ebert because he was an inside mid being played on HFF as we had Kerr and Prid already in his position.

We also have similar %. If we win our next two and they drop one, we could overtake them on %.

They play 12th, 14th, 15th. It'll be a battle of the skis to finish the season! As we play first in R18 if anyone is tied on wins they'll know the % goal/margin to win by to leapfrog us. Tigers removed from that equation as they've got half a game difference to us.

While you do raise some good points, I think most would agree that our starting best 22 midfielders are now top notch.
However the thin depth underneath them is critically low.

Sure the recruiters have tried to address this on previous years, but have repeatedly come up short.

Some on here get a bit narkie when I have a go at the recruiters, therefore I best refrain from further comment.

So maybe it’s the way they assess the quality and suitability of who we select.
Perhaps that’s something that needs to be reviewed.

Either way we are short of midfielder depth right at the minute and it’s going to have an impact on how far we progress into this years finals.

I reckon Ebert was always going back to Port, but definitely see your point.
