He's a bit of a dim bulb for a bloke who qualified for a chemist license, but gosh darn if he just doesnt wanna help people.
He's earned plenty of respect and favours within the footy industry. Would love to see him get an administrative position within AFL HQ one day and hold the VFL to account.

Yep
He must be really highly regarded in the Industry.

Seems to be first point of call for a lot of clubs in strife.
He would make a great coaches association president I reckon.

This is just him administering a different type of pain relief. Mostly to Blues execs and fans.

Good get for them.

Also his podcast with Neroli Meadows is worth a listen, especially for a ruthlessly private bloke.

I think Worsfold would make a fantastic mentor - he’s a very positive person and has seen a lot in football both good and bad

As a coach he isn’t and never was a great tactician which ultimately brought him unstuck at Essendon

I think Worsfold's style is similar to ol' Rossco's (sans the backstabbing, shifty eyes and sexual harrassment) - he's really good at bringing professionalism to a rabble and getting his players to buy into a gameplan. Tactically speaking he's as thick as a 2x4, but his mob will run through brick walls to impress him.

We did change our gameplan halfway through 2006 and handballed our way to a premiership :D

Hunter had long been swung forward when needed before 2006.

Worsfold developed a system that worked to his best players' strengths. A lot like Simmo now. He stuck to it despite the opposition and backed them to just be better. Unfortunately, Sydney were very good at bringing us down to their level and pinched a flag with Ross Lyon tactics.

I said it at the time when Freo were linked with him as a mentour. He’s got all the experience. He’s captained a club to premierships. He’s been dropped as captain. He’s done rebuilds. Won a premiership. Seen clubs at their best and at their very worst. You want some perspective on pretty much anything footy related- there’s not much he hasn’t come across.

I think you would be crazy to turn that experience and knowledge away just because he isn’t a head coach anymore.

The guy nearly won two premierships with one of the biggest group of cooked campaigners to ever play together, I'd say tactically he goes alright.

He did manage to change it a few times over the years.

2002-2005: Cant remember a plan that stuck out.

2006-2007: was the handball happy game plan + Switch Hunter forward.

2008-2010: Was parts the game plan above and parts learning the one below.

2011-2013 - Land of the giants that was high scoring + aggressive forward pressure kind of game plan.

He also had solid assistants in Tony Mcale , Scott Burns, Neale Daniher, Suma , Phill Walsh to help assist him over that time.

Bar watching Judd, Kerr , Cousins and co in flight i really enjoyed the 2011-2012 years as it was fast & high scoring and got the best out the squad.

I remember woosha saying that they implemented zoning and the forward press in 2007. I was curious, so re-watch the 2007 semi that we drew/lost with Collingwood. It was clear as day that we were zoning off and intercepting the ball etc, a real contrast to 2006 finals which I've re-watched several times. No idea what happened from 2008-2010, but if we'd stuck with that, we might have avoided the wooden spoon.

Interesting regarding the zoning even back then. I thought Clarko introduced that in 2008.

2008-2010 we barely had the cattle to implement much but i do remember players saying in 2011 that their rise wasnt a surprise internally as they had been practicing a game plan from 2010 that they all believed would push them forward.

makes sense they were zoning differently in 2008-2010 because I remember them entire side’s kicking skills being below sub-par during that period. so presumably they were still learning where the players would be positioning themselves etc.

Then suddenly you’ve got guys like Masten becoming very reliable kicks where before he would spray every second pass

Wouldn't mind going back and watching some games from that 2008-2010 peroid.

I remember hating football in 2008. I was so convinced we would be a top 8 team even if we didnt have Cuz or Judd that after each loss i got more and more angry about it haha. Some highs were thinking Ben McKinley was our next forward superstar, seeing a lot of players debut: Ebert, Scooter, Masten, Spangher, Davis, Maister, JK, Houlihan ... Some goodand some not!

May I suggest this game: https://www.afltables.com/afl/stats/games/2009/071820090808.html

Also, the one where Nic Nat beat Hawthorn in a cyclone at Subi.

And the LeCras master class vs Essendon.
