Be that as it may, however the draft picks are a token gesture, that helps the quality of their list in the here and now .

The AFL still haven't addressed the root of GC's problems and thats :

1. Player retention.
2. Attracting QUALITY mature players to join the Club.
( The only mature player they have attracted to date are other Clubs cast off's and fringe players.)

The AFL have only addressed one part of the equation and thats getting young talent into the Club via the Draft ........ how the CG then retains these good players has seemingly been neglected.

It's a half baked cake.

Both of these issues are generally addressed via the club itself, and not via AFL concessions. Gold Coast needs to rebuild it's culture before these things can occur.

Bringing players like Ellis and Greenwood in will get the ball rolling, and if they can start to improve little by little, year by year, the culture will grow with the players involved.

Fantastic start by Longmuir at his press conference by starting to say passionate is what springs to mind when he thinks about We.... fremantle supporters.

He was probably the right choice out of the available candidates. Though I do question their "exhaustive" selection process, that ended up selecting the guy everyone picked 4 weeks ago.

I assume Bell will be shoehorned into the CEO roll. They're putting a lot of faith in him.

So basically it's a rinse and repeat of what was done 10 years ago through another allotment of draft concessions.

With the AFL, hoping like hell, that it works better the second time around.

Traditionally the two main avenue that all Clubs have to improve their lists, are through the draft and the trading period.

I am getting pretty sick and tired of compromised drafts to accommodate the two expansion sides, its been going on for ten years now, it was just starting to get back to being un-compromised and now.... FFS...... the AFL extend it another three years.
With, I might add, no guarantee that it will be any more successful for GC this time round than it was the first time.

IMO, the AFL should be ensuring that the CG management and governance, is significantly improved otherwise its going to be a repeat of the current fiasco.

As anti-Richmond as I am, I have great amount of respect for Daniel Rioli. I've seen about four seperate dedications to Willie from him from grand final day.
I’m kind of torn on this, on one hand, I find it a bit strange, Daniels idea of inspiration for a GF, is a cousin who got himself into the shit, but on the other hand.....,.Willie.

No double entendres re - hands/Willie intended.

Oh I agree 100%, but what other solution was there?

That was my understanding as to why Mark Evans was brought in as CEO.

Must admit wasn't a big fan of Scooter, all grunt no polish?
From those day to now, all those years, waiting for a midfield like JuddCuzzKerrCox?
Might be a long wait, or might be next season?

Bad luck for Scooter. He made the right decision to leave for the 4 years, now way he would have had any more than 2 season with us, given how his body broke.

He played over 100 games with us, so we still get priority access to his kids.

Longmuir looks a little green in front of the camera but all that matters is how the players respond to him. Happy for him, reckon he will be a pretty good coach.

I was only listening, but he sounded nervous, which is understandable. I'm sure he'll loosen up.

Good for him, all round nice guy.

We can be rightly fuming at him trying to cheat the system and causing the magnifying glass to again be turned at us and perhaps even destabilising the strong culture we had built up.

But he is still a human being. Think sometimes we forget that when we get tribal during the AFL season. I like to think the club, behind closed doors, is throwing all its support to help get him through this.

Adam above Scott due to Premiership player.

Clearly Steven Armstrong > Phil Matera then.

Nah, Adam was great and all for us but his skill set was rather limited. Scott's form from 2011 and 2012 sometimes gets forgotten around here.

I'd have Adam over Scott purely because he played for us longer. They were fairly evenly skilled and similar style players.
