Definetly worth picking up the first, if not to catch up to where the 2nd will start, but the online is the best I have ever played, I spent a few hours the other night playing it and it is so addicting, still fun to this day.Would it be worth picking up the first? and if so, how much could i pick it up for?

RESISTANCE 2 GOES BERSERK
Insomniac Games' Ryan Schneider walked us through an extremely informative PowerPoint presentation on the developer's next game Resistance 2 at the Leipzig Games Convention. While we had foreknowledge of the majority of what Mr. Schneider talked about at the Con -- 60-person multiplayer, 8-player coop, Resistance 2's campaign storyline and its focus on bigger, badder battles -- he also touched on some of the first-person shooter's finer details. A deep-dive, if we're going for hip PowerPoint lingo.
Most interesting was the new Berserk features that Insomniac will be integrating into multiplayer. If you've played Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the new system is similar to that game's "Perks" feature.
Insomniac is ensuring that your progression through Resistance 2, whether it be in competitive multiplayer or coop, will provide constant reward. You'll be racking up experience points for just about everything you do in game. Fire a bullet, get some XP. Kill an opponent get some XP. Get enough in a round of multiplayer and you'll be able to initiate one of your Berserks.
These special attributes include things like invisibility, the ability to see through walls or a defensive aura that looks somewhat like the bubble shield from Halo 3 on a team-based scale. Schneider showed all these Berserks in action, giving us over the top examples of each being used.
In one, we watched a pre-taped attack on a group of human soldiers, each of whom had a Chimeran enemy sneak up behind them, then eliminate them while cloaked in a Predator-like invisibility shield. In another, we saw team member take advantage of the X-ray vision, firing sticky bomb rounds via the Magnum's secondary fire and blowing up his opponent without ever having actually seen him in person. Pretty snazzy.
The XP feed will also bring with in non-playable perks, as Insomniac is planning to bring over 160 medals, Trophies and ribbons to players of Resistance 2, maximizing bragging rights.
Finally, Schneider showed us R2's newest weapon reveal, the Splicer. Similar in style to a gun we saw in Dead Space, it uses a guided buzzsaw to rip enemies apart. Its primary firing mode delivers ricocheting saw blades, but its alt-fire gives one maximum goring potential, as the hovering blade can be moved around a body for extreme gibbage.
PICK THE COVER FOR RESISTANCE 2: COLLECTORS EDITION
When a game is all finished up and burned to the disc that you'll eventually pop into your console, it also needs a couple other things to get it safely to store shelves and into your hands: a box, an instruction manual of some sort, and, perhaps most importantly, a good cover to not only set the mood but wrangle in potential gamers as well.
One game that's going to need some sort of cover for its release later this year is Resistance 2. Or, more specifically, the Collector's Edition of the game. The problem is that Insomniac has narrowed the choice down to three potential covers, but the studio can't seem to make up its mind. So they're turning to you.
Here's what Ted Price, president and CEO of Insomniac Games, has to say about the conundrum:
"Insomniac takes community feedback seriously. We interview our fans on the Full Moon Show podcast. We created an R&D website serving aspiring game developers. And we hang out on the forums until the wee hours. We've even polled fans to select which hapless animal enemies turn into when firing the Morph-O-Ray in Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction (sorry, penguin-lovers).
"Now, we turn to the community with an even bigger question: Which image do you want to see on your Resistance 2 Collector's Edition cover? While you may think developing the game is our biggest challenge at Insomniac, we agonize almost equally over important details like creating and choosing the box art. And this time, we've got three solid images that are making the decision especially difficult. We're torn, and want to know what you think. So vote! We'll be eagerly awaiting your feedback, as always."
Same.Yeah either 2 or 3. 3 probably
I hate all shotguns except the Half Life 2 shotgun.the carbine was one of the nicest feeling guns in the single player....
but which is the most effective for running and gunning (not including shotgun as i hate shotguns)
I don't believe the Hailstorm is in MP, the bullseye is but is best for games like DM, you might want to watch out when playing in certain match types, most games are 1 hit kills, I love them, but some don't, however you can check every single option out before you enter the game.the bullseye and hailstorm sound like my MP weapons then
You can sprint, you can't sprint in single player Resistance, but in online you can, you just have to tap R2.i don't know why but i get the feeling i'm not going to fall head over heels for the multiplayer in this....
the fact you can't sprint (hopefully you can in #2) is seriously lame and dated.
there NEEDS to be a sprint function in online fps's for consoles

The most effective for running and gunning is difficult to decide upon.
If it is in a big open area, I loved the Auger because the you could use the secondary fire to create a shield. The Bullseye delivers more damage than the Carbine, but it is a lot less accurate that the Carbine.
The Hailstorm is awesome in close quarters, but you get barely any ammo for it.

My fave for MP is the carbine, very consistent, very accurate and the secondary option is good too, all the weapons are quite good though, every weapon is weighted well so there is usually never one weapon too stronger than the other, I recommend getting used to every weapon and getting to know all it's strengths and weaknesses. You can sprint, you can't sprint in single player Resistance, but in online you can, you just have to tap R2.![]()
Yeah, I love the 1 hit kill matches, I have great reflexes when playing FPS games, but my accuracy when trying to kill someone in a normal game often leaves alot to be desired, that is one reason I am pretty good at COD4 as well.EXCELLENT...one hit kills suits me just fine...in fact better than just fine as i pride myself on my reflexes and accuracy (oh the joys of youth lol)
Yeah well one of my reasons for calling Resistance one of, if not the best online game I have ever played is for the amount of customisation that can go into a single online game, you can edit literally everything you could think of, damage control(eg: 50% bullet damage), weapons allowed, the secondary fire, honestly there are too many to mention, give it a go, I highly recommend it, might even whack the game back in and play a game with you.part of the reason i didn't think i would take to the online in this too much is it took forever to down enemies in the single player of #1..compared to cod4 as an example and i thought multiplayer would be the same

A couple of tips though, when you play a team match, make sure you enter a squad, to do this once you enter the game push start then select the squad option and go to the one that either has the most people in it, or if no-one is in one just go in anyone and wait for others, what being in a squad allows is that when you respawn you can respawn with/near your squad members and help them out, you also get the option to respawn at base(Square for Squad respawn, Triangle for Base), being in a squad also helps to isolate who you want to talk too if you have a headset.
And another tip, play Capture The Flag on Somerset, possibly the best fun you will ever have, I have played that map and gametype for an amazing amount of time and have not once got bored of it, could not recommend it enough!
There are probably a bunch of other things I am missing on telling you, but honestly the online is so vast and varied that it is impossible to talk about it all in just a few sentences.
hehe
