Luke McDonald at 8, WTF? That has to be a misprint. Has reached 20 disposals in just 3 of his last 26 games of footy! They have him ahead of Billings for instance, who over the same number of games has had 20 or more 14 times, despite playing mostly forward in that time. Would pick Acres ahead of both of them now though.

Being BOG in a winning Grand Final is worth more than winning 3 Brownlows because you are great during the year, but get nothing in finals because you choke under serious pressure.

Who would take Boyd over Merrett?

Me. Mids are a dime a dozen. Boyd could be the best ruck/forward in years.

I would take Lobb ahead of Brown though. He is the one most likely to be better than Boyd.

Well it depends whether it's based on who you want for next year or in a few years time. As good as Merrett is, Boyd still has the higher ceiling and has shown bits and pieces of it.

You reckon Merrett would be the difference between winning and losing finals at this stage of his career? Without Boyd we wouldn't have won the flag this year. That is a fact. He has only played a couple of great games but what better time to play them.

If I had to choose between Ben Brown and Aliir Aliir I think I'd take Aliir Aliir. Brown has more runs on the board but Aliir has way more potential IMO.

I'd have Lobb and Kelly 5 and 6 with Brown 7. People forget just how good Brown is. He was a reason why North won the EF vs Essendon.

I'd also personally have Merrett over Boyd. He was good in the grand final, but still needs some consistency. Scored 13 goals in 15 games so time will tell if he can replicate his performance in the grand final concistently.

Gotta say I agree. A gun KPF is worth more than a gun Mid, but on exposed form to date its Merrett by the length of the Flemington.

Merrett went to an elite level this year, he's a star. I'm a massive fan and wouldn't mind if he was second on that list.

A lot more. When you're playing forward you normally have someone playing on you, whereas across HB it's generally pretty easy to rack up the cheapies.

For someone who is playing off HB to be legitimately ranked at no.8 in this list (from such a strong draft), they would have to either be pretty bloody awesome defensively, or be getting a heap of the ball and giving their team a lot of drive and I'm not sure L-Mac fits either description.

Playing down back most of the time (that I'm aware of) hasn't stopped Kolodjasnij from having 20 or more 13 times in his last 26 games (compared to McDonald's 3). He also did it 19 times from 22 games in 2015!

How they have McDonald ahead of him is mystifying and I'd probably take Hunt ahead of him now as well.
