Richard Tambling officially a Crow!

Fairly relevant question I would have thought

Well yes but it was also a relevant question when he was at richmond. Where it was obvious he felt that pressure of being compared to buddy. I see no reason why he wouldnt still feel this pressure in Adelaide if he gets asked about it all the time. Afterall hes still a no 4 draft pick even at adelaide.

and perpetuating the pressure?

not saying its not a relevant question - just that it surely would extend the pressure even if only to a small extent?

If he can't handle it now with a chance to restart though... he ain't what we need.

On paper that looks awful.
it does, and that's what everyone on the outside looking in will think, but our rookie list has been coming along very nicely. Bock is probably the biggest loss of the list, but we do have cover in Davis who is continually improving, and Talia, who i'm sure will be pushing for selection some time next year.

On field performance, the biggest misses for us will be

1. Goodwin
2. Bock

McLeod played well but only the first half of the season, Edwards the same except poorly. Burton hardly got out there, Griffin should be well covered by Jacobs amongst others, and the rest are a non-issue. As Crow-mo is fond of saying (and I agree) the CHB is the easiest spot to replace in the spine so the loss of Bock is more about time and energy put in than structurally damaging. Goodwin was one of our best all year.

In the rooms and on the track, well that's probably a different thing again, Goodwin and McLeod's influence on all other aspects will be a considerable loss.

It is awful - but it's important to remember that we were not exactly getting a huge amount out of those superstars by the end. Not one of those outgoing players even played for us in the final two rounds of this year.

To be fair, Bock would still have been if he hadn't announced his retirement. McLeod and Goodwin never played after the Geelong victory, Edwards went out midyear, Burton earlier than that. Griffin held on for a bit longer courtesy of our diabolical ruck situation.

The fact that we can still a 22 with players that I feel are worthwhile AFL players even today given those departures is a good sign - but nonetheless, it's a very heady list of outgoing players. I'm not sure there has ever been a list of outgoing players with quite that amount of quality on it. Goodwin/McLeod/Edwards/Burton/Bock? Damn.

On paper that looks awful.

on paper yes, however on 2010 output not so bad

Burton, had an awful 2010, and our forward talent is in good shape moving towards 2011
Edwards, except for his farewell game Zoomer had little to no impact on 2010, looking forward to seeing Sloane in a similar role
Bock, due to injury we have not seen Bock at his best for a couple of seasons, Davis or Talia will grow into the role nicely with support from a pretty settled defence
Macca and Goody's run from HB will be missed and is the biggest void to fill, Stiffy will need to lead in this area, Tambling was also recruited to help fill the void and pick 14 will target a player for this need. Martin is another with a big pre-season can come in to play a running HB role, and lets not forget Otto........

Many interstate folks will look at the names alone and write us off for finals however I truely believe that we are in good shape
