Whats everyones thoughts and predictions ahead of the big grand final rematch this weekend

Will the Swans gain sweet revenge for their heartbreaking grand final loss last year?
or will the Eagles inflict some more pain on the Swans and come away once again with the win

Post your thoughts ahead of the game

Talk about football itself?
Novel concept lately.

How could a H&A game even come close to counting as "revenge" for a GF loss?

As an Eagles supporter, did you actually feel "avenged" for losing the '05 GF by winning a H&A game? Or did that feeling arrive after the final siren in the '06 GF?

Post your thoughts ahead of the game

I think it's going to be a fairly close game for 3 1/2 quarters, with 2-3 late goals by us to close out a win by around 18-20 points.

I also think Rd 1 is far too early for a GF replay. I'd rather have seen it happen somewhere between rds 5-8 after both sides had a few games under their belts. Bear in mind that by competing in the GF, both sides had delayed starts to their preseasons and I personally think that having this game in Rd1 it will not be able to live up to the standards of the past 5 matches.

I'm looking forward to the Hall v Glass matchup as well as a Goodes v Judd matchup to boot.

I think, from the AFL's perspective, that scheduling the grand final replay in rounds five to eight is a bit of a gamble compared to straight out of the blocks. If the game takes place in round 1, the grand final's still fresh in peoples' minds and the rematch can legitimately be called a blockbuster. However, once the season's under way a lot can happen (if you think a week's a long time in football, imagine five!) and the match-up may lose a lot of its shine. A round 1 rematch simply means that there's no opportunity for one or both of the teams to fall off the pace of the competition leaders, which would no doubt detract from the lead up to the match.

Eagles by 16. I really wanna see some of our new kids get a crack, if Brown is as good as the hype and can continue his good form, look out:) .

Sydney for me at home, crowd support, knowing the ground inside out will prove more than enough to get past West Coast.

The domino effect of Goodes and Everitt will provide a stern test for Cox.

Everitt and Jolly i think you will find, Goodes doesn't ruck any more

Still formidable combination to have Jolly as your back up ruckman

Exactly Goodes hasn't rucked since he hurt his knee in 2004 he's more of a midfielder these days and don't be surprised if he goes forward more this year. :thumbsu:

He'd be hard to match up if he went forward...Can't think of anyone free who could mark him up. Maybe Staker?

Possibly Staker! There's been talks that Goodes will be moved forward during the Pre-Season, I think it'll be a good move. Since he's 3 years younger than Hall, it'll be a good replacement when Hall retires.

But wouldn't Staker play up forward for the Eagles since Hansen is out? It'll be a tough match up for the Eagles.

I think Sydney will get up by a couple of goals. I've tipped them, that's one I'd be happy to get wrong though.

meh, embley out will hurt you, he is the only one capable of running with goodes size & height.

Score tonight is going to be a blowout compared to more 'recent' results

You have been wrong a million times before.

BUT my gut tells me much the same.

I think he is.

Should be a good game, I don't think it will be as close as some of our previous games though.

Embley is an underrated player and one player that I actually like at the Eagles. He's loss will hurt them. But I'm still wary of the Eagles though even though I'm slightly confident!

Embley would be a massive loss for WCE.

His goal scoring ability will be missed badky as Brent Staker is nowhere near the player that Embers is.

Anyway injuries are a common occurrence in our great game so WCE would/should have most areas covered.

Kerr seems to be playing for certain though. :thumbsu:
