Our best win for the year no doubt. It was good to win one of these choke-jobs still. Especially without Dusty, massive effort.

I thought Carlton were well off their best, but thought our guys played well overall. Baker going down back has likely rescued our season. We still need to figure out why we are surrendering leads like a bottom 4 side - it has been our issue for near 12 months. Is it a fitness or mental proble? We were extremely lucky to win that one, that touched call swung it back our way - along with MRJ coming on as the sub. Until we can solve this issue we are not going to be challenging for real.

-Baker & Short are elite, amazing game. Watching how these 2 have grown makes me realize just how much of a massive loss Brandon Ellis was without us realizing it. The 3 of them were best mates & with Brandon being 28, he would have been a prime age to take command more. Losing Brandon Ellis has been a massive, massive lose to Richmonds 2022 hopes. If Brandon ever wanted to come back home to Victoria, we should be doing so - the 3 of them were great mates & seeing both these kids growth, Brandon clearly had more mentoring & leadership qualities than we all originally thought.

-Grimes is still our best stopper & Broad is not far behind. if everyone is fit then Balta should always play FB, not Tarrant.

-Of all our U21 players Ralph-Smith is the one who is most ready to impact games, along with Gibcus. MRJ as a super sub seems a minimum role for him, especially if he can back up & play the VFL. Still need 2 more young players to step up and earn a spot before we can get excited (looking at you Dow & RCD)

-Our midfield is hanging together purely on Prestia & Cotchin (looking at you Dow & RCD)

-Lynch is our most important player

- Balta's hammy is going to be a problem, cannot achieve anything of value without him in the side.

- us getting a minimum of a "roughly fair" run with the umpires is the difference between our game plan getting working, or not.

We are getting some traction - Geelong game will be a massive test for us. Geelong to me are the "best of the rest", so beating them is a must if we are serious about thinking we can break into the "contender" role

While it’s hilarious over here watching opposition supporters losing their s**t over Lynch, I do have to wonder what it’s doing to his mental health. While Jack and Cotchin have both gotten their share of vitriol directed their way, it feels like it’s more vicious towards Lynch. He’s always happy and smiley on his interviews, and seems unphased most of the time, but at the same time I wonder how it really affects him.
Think it makes him play taller.lol

If it stayed wet we would have won by 80.
blues will have some real problems going forward in winter if that is anything to go by.

Balme was on radio today and talked directly about Edwards’ poor form and said he looked very tired. The club is aware, but it is a delicate situation. He’s an undisputed legend of the club, and is six games away from 300. We are carrying him at the moment, and I am beginning to think that a number of those six are going to be spent as sub. And as much as I have loved edwards - definitely one of my favourite players over the last 10 years - I think that’s about right. His form has been shocking.

Laughs at their constant blaming of umpires for their loss
They failed to come to terms with the fact they were outplayed & beaten by a better side :thumbsu:
Well of course the umpires were at fault they didn’t pay them their 9 x 50 meter penalties, clearly biased

Super sub? Seriously the sub needs to impact the game when they come on, play him against west coast norf that only leaves 4 more to get

Funny how we say our midfield is threadbare with Prestia and Cotch and forget about Short, who you said a moment before was great last night. I'm guilty of the same thing, forgetting how good Short has been in the 6 odd weeks he has been playing midfield.

I think the Carlton supporters are more angry and upset about it than the players themselves. Ultimately they are either overly sensitive about a bit of cheeky behaviour that didn't hurt anyone or they are upset about the loss and looking for something to have a faux outrage about.

In the end all Bolton did was rub it in that he was about to kick a goal (also I think he was rubbing it in to the Carlton team rather than Docherty himself), but some people are acting as if he sneaked behind Docherty and king hit him.

Of course he would have looked silly doing this if Carlton actually got up and won from there which would have been the ultimate reply to the gesture.

It came from the 3/4 time melee. Docherty was in a verbal stoush with Rioli and Bolton …. no issue with that. Docherty probably said “just like Round 1 we are going to overrun you” blah blah … who knows but all’s fair in love and war. Then after that verbal altercation at the start of the 4th Bolton gets the pill and runs away from Dochertt, likely inspiring him showing the ball … which is probably why Docherty laughed about it as even he could see the irony.

I didn’t like it and I don’t think he’ll do it again, but I don’t think it was done without something inspiring it at 3/4 time.

We’re missing another inside mid. Short has been good statistically but he still makes that one shit show mistake in big moments. Really needed him to nail that inside 50 when it was a three on one. That’s what the very top players do.
