Keep the Northern states 1st if they want but I’d like to see 9 standalone games spread over 9 days , everyone gets a good look at everyone else and fans can really get their teeth into the new seasonOUT: This 'Opening Round' nonsense.
IN: Round 1 - where every team is fixtured to play.
CoxPossible best 23 missing watch
Darcy
Ryan
Pearce
Young
Switta
Freddy
Amiss
Worner
Yeah pretty disappointing, the injury gods can strike at any timeCox
Geez after a pretty injury free pre season we’ve got a lot out for round 1
Tobyn was also in the rehab group on Friday, didn’t look significant though.Tobyn to get a debut in place of Freddy? Good opportunity in front of all his mates, might be a bit of an ask for him though
Reckon Pearce and Ryan play
Complete lack of medium forwards is a concern.
Just plug Banfield there and hope for the best.
The pessimistic in me is saying Geelong by 40+. If there’s no Cox, Pearce, Darcy whilst Cats get Dangerfield, Stengle and Cameron back. Hard to see how can combat that
Stengle isn't coming back this round is he? I think he missed months of training for the blanket 'personal reasons' explanationComplete lack of medium forwards is a concern.

Cameron and Danger may get up but will be underdone
A lot of Freo fans don’t seem to rate Frederick but he always seems to play well against us - kicked the winner against us at KP a few years back too - so I’m not unhappy to see him miss.
Whilst the non rating of Frederick goes back further for some for a lot I think it’s due to the last game he played for us being in a final and quite disappointing.Stengle is weeks if not months away from AFL. Has been in full training for weeks but club says he will return via VFL.
Dangerfield and Cameron should play this week, but we were told Cameron would definitely play last week too so who knows?

If I’m honest I don’t think he misses out on many more than about 2-3 best 23s around the competition. Having said that if him being out is a great issue for the team then we’ve got problems - Good teams can cover players 12-23 on their list rather easily.
Im not his biggest hater but Freddy missed a goal from point blank last time out and we lost by a point. Did very little for the rest of the game.Stengle is weeks if not months away from AFL. Has been in full training for weeks but club says he will return via VFL.
