Autopsy Round 12, 2025: Hawks get swooped

Feels like a few blokes are assuming games at the moment. Mitch has to use selection pressure now. Boys not working hard both ways.

Moorey, Siss, Croc, Mass, Nash, Hardwick, Impey, CJ, Finn, Morrison, Worp, Scrimshaw, all down on last year.

Really need selection integrity. Obviously can't drop all those blokes but need some messages sent.

We won the inside 50s +1
We won the hit outs + 5
We won the clearances + 10

🥳 🎉 🙌

The only stats that mattered:

We lost the tackle count -42 (which must be a record)

We lost the game -51

Please stop posting about inside 50s & clearances.

They mean sweet fook awl.

We are floating down shit river with no paddle.

Sicily needs to be "rested" No more stupid defending the blatantly obvious.

Finn as sub is just TERRIBLE. Sam Butler should be there. It feels like Sam has his core and isn't deviating.

We are where we were at with the Gold Coast game last year albeit different W/L. Its either we step up now of I think we struggle to make the 8.

Ward is progressing nicely.

I hope I dont get banned for saying this, but it's the truth: I'd rather go for the Bombers this year than us.

That's just how excruciatingly poor the last two weeks have been.
How many reality checks can you have in a row?

Positives
1. Ginnivan had a very good game, 31 disposals and 3 goals is some game from a half forward.

2. Thought Meek had a decent game against Cameron who is no mug. Good to see the big fella throw his body around again.

3. Ward continues to build. Just needs to work on his decision making.

Negatives
1. Sicily. Geez this one hurts, he's been such a champion for us for so long. Surely he is playing injured and if so why?

2. Our forward line pressure is non existsant. Their half backs ran amock on the rebound tonight.

3. Collectively as a side we do not handle pressure well. When you take away our space we do not like it at all.

4. The decision to play Hardwick as a middling forward when the number 1 small forward in the league in Elliot is tearing it up the other end of the ground was baffling.

We won clearances by 10 and inside 50’s by 1. So it’s not like we didn’t have chances.

Our defensive system is just nowhere near it currently. They had free players everywhere when they had the ball. We didn’t get close enough to the pies players to put even a fraction of doubt in the pies players minds.

Lost at selection.
Hardwick permanently back.
Finn is NOT a sub. Please kill this. Someone with speed and zip.
Time for performance (or lack of) to be rewarded or penalised regardless of leadership positions.
Way too loose in defence, and can we please stand the mark with some sort of intent?
Well done Ginni, had twice the effort of nearly everyone else.

Our selection committee this season must be run by interns.

We have one of the premier small defenders in the comp and we play him up forward to become a poor mans Lincoln McCarthy. Why?

We finally throw him down back once the damage has been done and their best small forward has kicked 4 goals (only to bizarrely not play him on Elliot for the rest of the second half?).

We continually select under performers like Sicily, Moore (both who are likely carrying an injury) and Croc when our VFL replacements are smashing the door down week in week out.

Didn't Sam say this season we were going to stop gifting games? Or did I just dream that?

Don't even get me started on our subs.

Demoralising - Pies are faster, use the ball better and are incredibly predictable to each other in a way we're not. Their army of small put on great pressure.

Pies scored from 63 per cent of their entries - that's the game. Our backline selections and unwillingness to play Hardwick back look like sheer pigheadedness.

Midfield were ok (including perennial whipping boys Ward and Nash), and Gini was exceptional in the first half. Not too many other positives.

Looks like Meek is out a month by media trial.

Urgh...

Completely bereft of confidence this group

Still young and learning to deal with being the hunted team, but short term, Sam has to do something to get us back on track

Cause we are MILES off the mark

Tough watching that. The umpiring was inconsistent, but we got torched regardless.

We can point to the tackle count, but that looks to be more an outcome of ball movement rather than intent.
We moved the ball poorly most of the night whereas the Pies moved it well, which makes them hard to tackle.

I thought we'd win this and turn our season around, but I'm starting to fear that we're going to need a fair amount of change to happen before we do...

just got home

I will say this,
Ginnivan 31 disposals, 3 goals
Schultz 13 disposals, 0 goals.
Those figures sum up who is the better player.

Ginni was great tonight, always in the contest, gave 1000%
Newk and Ward likewise. Gee, Ward has made some huge steps this year.
Nash was ok, Barrass was good in a backline under siege.
Chol and Gunston were ok.
As for the rest....
Battle had his worst game of the year, but until tonight he's been fine.
Macdonald, Hardwick, Scrimshaw, Amon and Impey totally ineffective
Sicily has just dropped off the face of the Earth, Moore too.
CJ, well, TBH, just hopeless. I think I'm right in saying he's laid 2 tackles in four weeks.

Lets see how BHH go tomorrow.

Tonight showed why Day, even though just one player, is missed. The countless times we won the clearence and just threw it on the boot, for them to intercept and transition was ridiculous. Nash, Worpel and even Newcombe just showed no poise.

The tackle count at 38 too. This isn't HOKBALL

Sicily almost gave up as many free kicks as he had kicks.

Seriously the bloke is a deadset liability out there. He's not right. Don't ****ing play him.

Get him cherry ripe as when he's on he's our best player alongside Day.
I wonder if the coaching staff are holding off until we get closer to the bye round to give him a couple of weeks off. Whatever it is , we’ll find out at seasons end

We won clearances by 10 and inside 50’s by 1. So it’s not like we didn’t have chances.
tracy morgan no GIF

Our clearances were horrendous and intercepted / turned over.

As were many of our “golden” inside 50s.

Serious football teams don’t celebrate these stats.
