I think we'll be okay tonight, but I couldn't say no to $3.96 for Adelaide to win. I put $20 on it, which I'll be happy to lose.

The selections this week are slightly troubling. The formula that's seen so much success this season seems to be disrespected with some of these inclusions. I hope I'm wrong, but this game might be a very dour affair. With Jenkins and Lynch out, you just feel like Adelaide have nothing to lose. It could be one of those games that galvanises the playing group into all-out attack because "we're probably going to lose anyway." We saw Geelong do a similar thing against the tigers a while back. A bunch of stars out of the team, which seemed to take the shackles off the rest of the group. Perhaps psychologically removing the fear of losing as it was expected?
Like I said, we'll have to have a very bad night to lose this one, but last week was a huge concern to me. I was at the Port game, and we looked like a completely different team. I'd love to see us put this one to bed by quarter time, but I'm just not sure that's going to happen. One particular concern was Blicavs. He took huge steps backwards last week. I watched him getting towelled all night. Not making it to contests, getting out-worked, not reading the ball, and that horrible turnover... Hopefully he lifts his game this week.

Carn Catters - put 'em to the sword!

The side looks fine.
With the crows missing so many talls we've obviously picked based on need.

Blicavs even said this morning the walker matchup will be split between him and Harry due to Jenkins etc missing.
So I'm guessing you will see Blicavs in the ruck, and danger forward a fair bit.

Kolo might be mr fix it down back tonight.

In that case we don't really need a second ruckman. I'd have still gone in with Buzza. He's playing well at VFL level and should be rewarded.
The Crows do have Sauce Jacobs named as an emergancy, his last five games against the Cats he had 37,41,45,32,and 39 hit outs, there must be a temptation for them to make a late change.

In place of O'Brien? that's hard to see given O'Brien is coming off a career game and they won't play both together you wouldn't think.

They may play 2 rucks and try to exploit our biggest weakness our ruck and centre clearances,it's what I'd do.

Crows are pretty rigid or inflexible down back IMO... Talia, Keath and Hartigan are all key backs and all only able to play there really...maybe a late change?
What will be important are the ground ball wins inside 50...if ball goes to ground we should crucify them.
Hawk needs to make sure he isn't outmarked, or gives away free kicks and worst case brings it to ground and our smalls can feast

Before hearing about the outs, I figured to be disappointed if we were not in control after 5~10 minutes. With whatever lineup they decide on now, we need to be in control by end of Q1. We may win a close one, or sprint away in the second half, but I want to see a response, not business as usual.
Watching the All Blacks through the years, they usually only lost when the other side were amped up and took it to them. And it would happen in important games like at the WC. The knock on them was that they were too clinical. Sometimes I think the Cats can be like that; not playing with enough desperation. Hope to see some early, and then utter ruthlessness after that. That would be a response.
Go get them.

This really is a key game IMO - not in ladder position but in mindset and response.

I dont care too much about the 1/4 score - clearly id luv 8 goal to 1 our way - but ill accept being behind - as long as the response, effort and clearance work has lifted massively.

15 blokes were ordinary last week. No room for that now. They had their mulligan - now the barrels are clear unload accordingly.
If the response is timid and underwhelming - that will be a concern for mine.
I like Fog and Bewsy in - gives some hardness and tackle pressure

Fair ask however giving Bewsy an in form Eddie in his first game of the year

Let's take bets on if we bomb it on Hawkins head all night... NO second forward with size is going to hurt us. Hawkins will be double teamed all night.
wouldn't it depend on where the other players are positioned? And hopefully not delivered on his head, you don't need to be double teamed to spoil that delivery.

Happy to see Bews and Fogarty get a game but we need a second tall forward and someone to help in the ruck. I don’t want to see Taylor play forward or Blicavs ruck again. Henry could spend time forward but would still like to see some tall support for Hawkins. Bring in Buzza or Krueger

Henry with rib soreness to be the late out for Buzza ?????

If crows were over 5 bucks I would but not at that price

Strange selections, yes, but it won't be enough for the Crows to beat us down here. People are seriously overrating the Crows. They just aren't that good. I do expect Buzza to be a late in.
