???huh so it must be a bad injury to keep him out of the side again.....:-(...jeez if he can't string two games together anymore the forecast isn't looking too good....Its a shame cause the club had no idea at the beginning of the week we'd have these injuries!

Think I meant to include the word 'if'.

Good thing for Luke, turns out his career isn't over and the Bahai Youth Auxiliary must wait a bit longer.

What did you suggest, couldhavebeen? Vaseline?
Get him to soften his hands by making him do slips catching , throwing cricket balls at him and getting him to catch them .
If he goes at a cricket ball with his hard hands like he does with a football he will won't catch them and will end up with very sore hands .
He liked the idea as the Club have been working on the problem for some time . He is so eager to fix the problem and this was something that may help .
I suggested he Taberner wear a helmet so when he grabs at to he doesn't get seriously hurt :);).
That bought a smile to his face .

It was only a matter of time before Coulda made the step up to actually coaching the team.
Freo aren't very happy with the current situation and the contact said that that steps are in progress to fix the problem . What he stated was that Cam was struggling to get a team balance with the playing list that he has got .

Slips catching with the hands together, fingers up and in front of his face?

Who will Crowley go to? Don't get me wrong - I love Crowls, but unless he's got a job to do and a player to stop, he's a pretty average footballer, let's be honest.

Callan Ward is the general of that midfield and had a very good year, you'd have to go to him I reckon

Crowley usually goes to the player that best distributes the ball not necessarily the player that gets the hard ball (i.e. he does not go to Priddis, Watson etc). I may be wrong, but I thought Ward was a more of a getting the ball type? very good player either way tough as.

I think he just goes to whoever Ross thinks is their most damaging player - sometimes this can be an accumulator in the weaker midfields in order to back our other mids getting the ball first (e.g. Vince and Shuey the last 2 weeks)

I was at training for a short time but the boys were full of voice and good spirits
Crozier and Taderner were training with the WAFL guys .
No sign of Elvis on the track.
I had to leave early but caught up withone of the coaches and raised the subject of Taberners hard hands and I suggested something to help ease his hard hands.
I think a change of coaching is on the cards at Peel at the end of the season.
I will try and find out more

Well done Couda - it needed to be said.

This isn't exactly changes related but does anyone think we seriously need to look at settling in a permanent second tall forward leading to finals? This constant resting Clarke/Sandi just isn't going to be enough to win the flag. I really hope Apeness or Gumbleton or even Bradley to come in now for the rest of the year and prove there worth as second tall.

Clarke's a great athlete but his influence isn't as great with Sandi as dominant ruck and his form in the forward line is patchy at best.

Agree. And to be honest I think that's what they are doing. Trialling it now on the lighter games. Would have bought in a defender this week if they weren't I would have thought

I think we'll only play the 2nd tall if he can tackle like a midfielder, which is why Lyon is so keen on Apeness with his rugby background. As great as he is, Pavlich at his age is probably the worst tackler/pressure player in the team and in Lyon's gameplan we can't afford to have 2 talls with no forward pressure. But if Apeness can bring his tackling game then he might well earn a permanent spot.

This is all ok - would prefer Luke and Ibbo in, but excited as all get out to see Mora and The Big Apeman in action.

If Mora goes for a run down the northern wing and bombs one from 50 through the city end goals then I will seriously lose my shit.

If Morra does that on Sunday, I'm storming the field to pat him on the back!

(I'll be starting the run from my lounge room at home as I couldn't get tickets - but bugger it who cares!}

In my wildest dreams I see this amazing GF match up between us and Sydney.

The lethal Sydney forward line with Franklin, Tippett and Co Vs. the amazing McPharlin, Johnson and Dawson. An incredibly even match-up that only our Defensive structures could blunt.

Then the midfield: Jack, Hannebury, Kennedy, Parker, McVeigh and Goodes vs. Fyfe, Barlow, Mundy, Hill, Neale, and (an in-form) Morabito. What an even-handed midfield battle this would be; although our mob at our best would cut them down the way we did before the Grand Final.

Our forward line vs their solid defence. Pav would be incredibly brave and kick 4 goals with three defenders pinning him down, Ballantyne would redeem himself from last years GF with a monstrous effort and Son-Son would be his spectacular best.

But we'd be missing that one, final piece to the puzzle - the elusive, solid second tall. Clarke and Mayne would try hard and might even kick a goal or two between them but it wouldn't be enough.

I know it's still a pipe-dream but we need to pick that guy right now, persevere and lock him in.

That's because he doesn't have the time to being the only reliable tall forward to kick to; at 32 Pav still works so hard not only in drawing the ball in forward but in winning it and setting it up in he midfield.

We need Mayne to be our Gunston.

Speaking of slips catching, when I watch Crowley fumbling his way through a game, I wonder whether he ever played cricket in his youth. If he didn't he should have. If he did I bet he was always made to field at fine leg or third man.

Best set shot from 50 in the side ;)

Completely agree. If it comes down to an after the siren set-shot from 50 in the GF and we need a goal to win it, I hope it's Ryno taking it. Mayne still has a way to go to get back to his money-in-the-bank best. Son-Son, because he came up big from set-shots in the prelim and GF, would be my second choice.

Sonson is a good kick but 50 is about the limit of his range. From 50 or further I'd go with Pavlich.
