If being managed at training ,running laps etc is because the player is sore would mean that Pav,Sandi and Luke are all playing sore .They are all on modified programs ,nothing to do with soreness ,long season and older bodies is the reason..Silvangi has re injured his hammy.

Salim ,
The Alex that I want us to play is Alex Pearce if you read my first post .
Anyone at the Sydney game would have noticed how in the warm up Johnson was not moving well .
He was also not running as hard in the Sydney game as he was in the first 3 games .
The match committee know he is coming back from a serious back injury so it only makes sense to manage him or a hamstring could be his next injury and soon .
We have a very small injury list but if Johnson goes down with a LTI we will have 3 tall backmen injured and that means trouble
Acording to RTB ,Silvagni is out for 12 weeks due to having an operation on his hamstring Dawson is not ready to go and Smith has not come on with his development . Alex Pearce is playing good footy for Peel but he needs to play some senior games and on the MCG so the game against Melbourne is perfect timing .

On the news tonight,RTB said that Sivagni has had an operation on his damaged hamstring and will be out for 12 weeks .
How disappointing for the Sylva-surfer. Wish him all the best.

The only sylva-lining is that it is an upgrade opportunity if required. Personally I don't think we need a rookie with plenty of players ahead of Ballard, and A Pearce ahead of Smith, although Smith could be an option I guess.

Most likely won't eventuate, but I thought the Bulldogs game might be a good one for AP's debut.

Put him on Boyd. Both are at a similar stage of development. Better than him having to stand a seasoned KPP. He'd then have someone at a similar level of strength, conditioning and experience. He'd still get a taste for the pace of the game, our structures etc...

I would take a leaf out of Sheedy's hand book and play him against a more experienced player like Dawes . He will learn more in 100 minutes against him than another kid .

The difference is Dawes would probably towel him up. At least with Boyd he's relatively green, so it's not so much of a mis match.

Beginning to feel quite confident with our list at the moment:

1. Our midfield is so hard to break into; we have players performing at the top every week to the point where a guy like Mzungu can crack a game, and it keeps Suban and De Boer fighting hard for their sports. We have Sheridan, Crozier and Duffy ripping it up in the WAFL and literally tearing the door apart to get into the side. Then the next tier down we're looking at Blakely, Grey, Ballard etc who are improving with every week.

2. Our defense has never been so strong - McPharlin at the top of his game, Johnson, Ibbotson, Duffield, Spurr etc... it's hard to see who gets replaced for Dawson and Silvagni to come in unless injury/suspension befalls them. Not to mention A. Pearce and Smith looking like future contenders.

3. Still boasting one of the best ruck stocks in the competition - Sandi and Clarke are beginning to really click. Griffin's still around and Hannath is getting back to Mammoth quality.

It's only our forward line that is the most vulnerable. Walters and Ballantyne are there but both yet to hit form, plus we don't have a like-for-like replacement for either of them. Pav's still a beast, Mayne's improving and Taberner's a work in progress but who else do we have should one of them fall, Apeness?

Grey is playing good footy for Peel and is suitable to play in a back pocket forward pocket or on the ball so he would be a perfect replacement at either end of the ground . Don't forget last year he was an emergency for a number of games before he had the hamstring injury . He got through the full preseason and is playing very good footy for Peel.

Pearce has the height ,mobility and strength to take on Dawes . What he will learn is if he can't protect the drop zone Dawes will teach him a valuable lesson . He will have support from Spurr ,Elvis ,Duffield , Ibbo and Mzungu so when ever he is under pressure the experienced guys will be helping him out .

Sorry Coulda but there is no way that A Pearce is any where near strong enough for the AFL gorilla's like Dawes.

Strength? That's my only fear with Pearce, he's still quite rangy and doesn't appear to have the strength in his arms to body up an AFL key forward. I'd hate to see him get rag dolled.

Or we could continue to play him in the WAFL while he trains opposed to Pav who schools him in the tricks the best forwards use, and practises with our defenders - then later in the season if we have run out of senior KPDs to deploy - we debut him :P

Don't be logical.

Chucking this in here because there is no other appropriate thread...

With Vince likely to go to Fyfe this weekend (and all the luck to him) I am hoping that the tactics used, similar to those on show against Dangerfield, won't flare up Nat's temper to the point of mindless retaliation. Might be a good test for how well he can manage such attention.

Yeah Im hoping he just carries himself with the competitiveness we know he has plus a knowing that he doesnt have to react because he is better than them. Then we just need others to flatten Vince.

The way danger flopped was ugly... i hope never to see that out of fyfe. And dislike seeing walters play for frees.

Even if Vince uses the same tactics as he did Danger, Fyfe will play the ball and absolutely towel him.

Can't see Fyfey having an brain fades this year, not after coming so close to the Brownlow last year

Some Melbourne supporters hoping their players injure ours this weekend.

Hopefully everyone, on both sides, comes through without injury.

Dont take our board so seriously there, Taylor. We are the masters of sarcasm.

To put up with the amount of crap we have over the past decade one must have a sense of humour and wild imagination to stay out of the nut house.

Watching on from the boundary at last weeks game. There were a few times where fyfey got tackled and the swans player refused to get off him until the ball was out of the area....this naturally made Fyfey annoyed and you could see his temper flair as he forcefully pushed the swans player away. Its nothing out of the ordinary....but injury aside, i think we'll all be holding our breath this year as he'll only get more and more attention.

Who cares. Let them run their mouth. It's probably part of the reason why they're perennial cellar dwellers.

Yes, because club boards on Big Footy control how a team is run and coached. :drunk:
