the news had footage of Mcpharlin doing some running, looked gingerly, though that is his normal running, then consulting staff, walk off. So the fact that he tried tends to suggest its as suggested - calf soreness. no risk. these things can linger, given his history. not a good long term sign but i will pray. But the usual pattern of Freo dockers success usually correlates with Luke's fitness
That strapping on McPharlin's calf at training isn't too big, just a little strip horizontally around the bottom of the muscle I see triathletes using when they have a niggle but are still training/competing.
If anyone saw Sloan after their game, THAT is a calf strapping.
I mentioned in another thread that it's around now that the pre-season freshness starts to wear off and here we are (assuming the reports are right of course).
It's well known that the calf muscle complex is particularly prone to strains in older elite endurance athletes in particular. Elvis clearly has issues there. If they don't rest it now, and rest it well, I would bet good money he wont be available or be seriously hampered come finals.
It's interesting that taylor you mention triathletes because that is the exact sport where this issue comes up a lot. Often with compression etc. they play through small tears and the like, but it doesn't get better without rest from the little I know, and with Luke we've just got to be ultra conservative.
