It’s going to be a tough decision come 5:30 Saturday between watching us get beaten by Hawthorn and watching the Coronation.
For context I am about as anti-monarchy as they come .

The Freo app devs need to adjust the push notification settings so that they don't appear until AFTER the referenced article is available.
This had been a consistent nuisance for weeks now.
I had the same issue but I've found if I swipe 'back' once the app opens (showing the home page) the actual article then appears.

You won't be embarassed?

I can already feel the s**t talking in the group chats
I already don't care. I'll just be happy to be there tbh.

Firstly, I love the inclusion of Treacy as it allows us to keep him and Amiss as forwards while Jackson can roam around the midfield/wing providing a bigger body around the stoppages and a target to kick to if he stays as far away from Darcy as possible it’ll spread the opposition's zone.

Banfield over Sturt has me as flummoxed as everyone else. The only reason I can fathom is experience. I believe the coaches are scared to have Treacy, Amiss and Sturt together in the forward line, which is incredibly disappointing.

How is Sturt going to make it to 20 games let alone 50 if we keep dropping him. His movement against the dogs was first class as it not only created space for himself to kick a couple but also for those leading into the hole he’d created. Banfield has never managed to do this.

Finally dropping Brodie means we should be looking to mix it up more in the middle, but if we line up with Serong, Brayshaw and JOM at the first centre bounce I think I’ll blow my lid as that combination hasn’t worked all year!

Tell me how you expect a forward to perform when the ball spends most of the time in our backline?

When the ball finally reaches our forwards, the opposition have zoned their defence.

Sturt is a solid player but a victim of the s**t game plan.

That's exactly my point.

He's still super overrated on this board though.

Last chance for Treacy at the Dockers imo. Just don’t see it in him personally, but hoping he turns it on. We had crabs like Anthony, Murphy and Cambell who use to kick bags in the wafl and look how they turned out.

My point is Treacy hasn’t done a whole lot in the wafl since his first few games in 2021 bar one good game last year. If his FWD craft isn’t good enough to dominate in the 2nds i just don’t see it.

They must rate something that Banfield does. Buggered if I see it myself. I think they had it right aside from Sturt and Banfield.

Looks like Hughes has been moved off the wing. Freddy named on the Wing and hopefully they give him a decent run there. Aish and NOD also to run through the wing.

I’d play Hughes in the backline. My preference would be to have Wilson instead but Wilson doesn’t show any accountability for his opponent.

It’ll be the first combination, 100%. Feel like Switkowski should be in there first bounce.

I wonder what game style we’ll play this week. I really enjoyed the first game, I was on the edge of my couch waiting to see if Cox would break the magical 20 mark figure. It’s so cool when you can fill your fantasy footy defence with Dockers.
I also quite like the “kick down the line at every opportunity“ style. I don’t normally sit on the wing at home games but now I wander over and stand there. You get an awesome view of the game, it’s like watching it on TV, and if you choose the correct wing the action is always right there in front of you.
Personally I’m hoping we do the hyper handball style again, it looked amazing on TV, I’d really like to see it live.
It’s a shame the AFL don’t do retro round anymore, what I would give to watch a grinding, one on one contest again, especially since we don’t really do contested footy anymore. I miss not being able to shout, “man up”, “don’t kick backwards”, “don’t handball, just kick it”.
Still, there’s plenty of other things to look forward to, which flank will Lukey Ryan kick the ball to? Will Hughesy crack 150 metres gained? Will Banfield lay a tackle? Will Jackson hold a mark? How many times will Pearce fumble? Being a Saturday night prime time game, will the Dockers poopy the bed?
Man I love going to the footy.

Playing enough forwards capable of taking marks and spreading the defence is not something JL understands. He tried it once in Rd 1 with Fyfe and the immobile Taberner, and gave up straight away. In hindsight it was possibly our best performance of the season as well.

I will be watching the setup at centre bounces in the forward line closely. The stuff you can't see on TV. If it is anything like previous weeks, he will only have two of Treacy, Amiss and Jackson, plus four out of Schultz, Switta, Walters, Frederick, Banfield. Then sub Amiss out just before 3/4 time.

Five small forwards in the one side (considering that's how Banfield plays). All the good sides are playing either 2 or 3. It is truly unbelievable JL can't see how terribly it works and persists with it. He will probably bring Colyer back as soon as he is fit enough.

Hawthorn might even trump us with how many short people they play, so we could get away with it this week.
Half of them don't deserve tha name of forward as they struggle to kick a point 😂

!

Banfield has a clause in his contract that requires him, if fit,
to be played in the firsts. [emoji2]

Maybe I’m missing something , but I have not seen anything positive from Switta playing the bounce. He brings to the side good tackling and intensity, but you win clearances with clean ball movement, not an out of position defensive forward. If a forward has to go in, Walters is a much better option because he has good movement and can spot and hit a target.

Switta has insane short distance burst and moves through traffic effortlessly. Going by eye he seems to impact when thrown in, assuming he's first/second receiver. Happy for Walters to roll through too, but I'd rather him be on the end as he generally puts it between the sticks.

Personally i have no embarrassment left in the tank after the North game. Getting done by the Hawks would be a plucky loss in comparison.
Hawks traded out all their experience and are destined for 18th on the ladder

All my mates are aware of that so they'll come for me if we lose

Dunno about that first bit... West Coast are doing a good job at providing opposition for 18th. North right in the hunt too if those teams somehow win a game too.

Unfortunately Hawthorn's best chance is tomorrow.

If you had a choice between Jordan Clark or Nathan Wilson, wouldn't you pick Wilson to miss?

If someone has a role for running off half back and not really defending then putting that player in the mostly defensive role Walker is filling would be counter to goals.

I actually think Wilson should be playing small forward if he can't play running defender, that's where he started. He should be the smart mouth pest forward with blistering speed taking shots on the run from 60m out.

Or you not think like a rocket surgeon and think about putting talented players elsewhere to assist where we have major deficiencies
