Recommitted Rowan Marshall [OOC 2027] - Requested Trade to Geelong, didn't get done

That’s the thing though we really don’t desperately need your first to get deals done , Gold Coast will want our pick 7 for Flanders , aleer and Ryan will be second round picks at best so what do we actually need the pick for trade wise.

It's less about that and its more about do you want him playing as a forward if you have decided long term the forward rucks are tdk and dodson.
This is the last year you can really trade him and get any decent value, 2026 onwards and it would be a token pick trade at best due to age.

Dodson will be a gun but he is still very raw physically expecting a young ruckman to make a impact so early in his career is not really realistic he could be at least 3-4 years away from being ready for a significant role . which bWith heath going if tdk was to get injured than we would be in trouble.

Which one of you called trade radio to suggest pick 17 + Ollie Dempsey for Rowan Marshall? 😂
Might have been the fella from a week or so back in this thread, adamant that they'd get 3 firsts + Holmes for Marshall. Must have softened his expectations a little

No worries. It's a legitimate question, answer it.
Perhaps I'll let you answer it

Because according to you we have 3 good players. So it makes plenty of sense that we have space to pay more people

I want Brishane to win because they have the better players.

Geelong will rely heavily on Bailey Smith and Dangerfield.

Brisbane has the class factor and better depth, Geelong rely too heavily on Cameron. If Cameron has another inacurate day in front of goal, it could get ugly for the cats.

The worry for Geelong is that one of Ah Chee, Raynor or the Ashcofts will get off the leash at some stage.
Obviously Dangerfield will too but he is only one man.

Then the rest of your posts about us seem to be about:

Rule changes that favoured Geelong's playing style so comprehensively that we had to completely abandon it and adopt a style that looked like Richmond, down to bringing in a coach and two former Richmond program small forwards.

A home ground advantage by playing at a ground we stopped being able to defend properly 3 years ago and now regularly lose at.

Jack Bowes and Jhye Clark simultaneously being terrible players and also cheating for us us to have them.

I could go on here, but you have some of the least logically coherent views I've ever seen displayed here.

per Cal Twomey yesterday, Saints want a F1 for Marshall. Seems the two clubs are already in dialogue about a trade.

FWIW I am always reluctant to trade F1s. Hopefully the trade ends up something like 2025 1st + F2 for Marshall and F3/4.

Saints know our recent history going into grand finals is not making the 8 the next year or at least not top 4

That's still a huge risk to gamble on.
Last time we got smacked in a Final was 2021 Prelim and we dominated the next year on the way to a Premiership.

I'd imagine Cats say no to F1.

This year;s first and F2 is more than enough for Rowan Marshall.

How can Geelong afford Marshall under the salary cap?
Not sure if this is a rhetorical question, but if not; it’s been reported his contract has been heavily front loaded.

That’s why there’s contention on value. Is Marshall worth a first pick or more regularly? How much is he then worth if you’re paying a fraction of what you normally would for the next 2 years?

It is not worth engaging. He's not being sincere

I dunno, we might say yes but ask for things back

That's true, we might view this year's draft as a steal for a couple blokes.

Hunter Holmes, Jesse Mellor as NGA, think there was someone else in 20-30 range they showed interest in.

I'm sure they have a plan.

All those posts you quoted were proven 100% correct. It is also against the rules to post quotes from other threads.
Move on mate.

Marshall is a very good player. At 29 he probably has 4 years left.
In this weak draft his value would be around pick 11 imo.
