If you would read the sentence before the one that mentions Geelong, you would understand that is not what I am saying.Nobody said you had to. You’re making it sound like St Kilda turned the deal down because it was Geelong rather than because it wasn’t a good deal.
You also didn’t answer whether there’ll be regrets if you end up having rejected a top 10 pick for him, or what will happen if playing two rucks stifles TDK which any Carlton supporter will tell you has been the case throughout his entire career.
I dont care about what may happen with hypothetical future picks or trades. Marshall makes St Kilda stronger.
He has shown he can play fwd/ruck effectively and be a difference maker in that role from when he did it with Ryder. I said many times on the St Kilda board I'd rather lose Marshall for less next year then trade him without even trying the ruck pairing given it has been a difference maker for us before. TDK wont be playing the same role in the pairing as he did with Pittonet so a straight comparison of his output in a pairing wont tell the whole story. And I am well aware of how much King's output increased in those years when Marshall was lining up next to him compared to when he was the sole tall target so it's influence can extend beyond just the rucks.
