How formidable are Tarrant, McPharlin and Grover down back. I think unless we are seriously struggling up forward or there is a mismatch, these three should be left down back (Or at least started down back).

Any team that bombs it long into the forward line is going to be killed and when we come up against the top sides of the competition, I can't of many forwards that will be able to take on both McPharlin and Tarant/Grover.

If we can now just find a permanent crumbing backmen (I prefer Hayden pushing into the midfield) we have a seriously strong backline.

Forward wise we may look a little light on, but as stated Tarrant and McPharlin are good swingman...Ballatyne in and maybe Campbell into the team and we are competitive.

If we can learn anything from the mob up the road it's that a strong forward line is overrated...If you win the ball in the middle (Or your backline can consistently repel), your a team.

Every team needs 3 big backs IMO. It's a big reason why we were good in 06.

The difference being with these 3 to most, is they can all play tall or small just like 06. :thumbsu:

I never thought of Grover as a good overhead mark but he took some great grabs today. I reckon that big grab he took in the back pocket he looked so determined coz he F***ed up a few minutes earlier.

Will be interesting to see how things go away from subi. I was always under the impression that u can get away with not having stay home power forwards at subi but away from home on smaller grounds may be a different story.

Tarrant on LeCras was brilliant. I'd like to think he could take the 'small who can play as a tall' out each week; otherwise can play on the 2nd or 3rd forward, depending on matchups.

I'd throw McPharlin forward from time-to-time, just to keep the pressure on the opposition coach.

One from left field - any chance of turning Kep into a full forward to play out of the square. His accuracy was very good last year, he takes a pretty reasonable grab and he seems to read the play ok. Not super quick though.
