They are literally caught between a rock and a hard place. They can’t do anything until it’s public.
It is amazing how many people can't understand this... same as those on the social media cesspit attacking the media for not saying anything

They literally aren't allowed, it isn't hard to understand .. it absolutely isn't supporting or condoning his alleged actions

Interesting that it says 'The high-profile man’s defence barrister, Dermot Dann KC, previously told a court his client maintained his innocence and would fight the charges.'

Odd to me that one would say he's innocent, and the other isn't fighting the charges. Maybe they just didn't publish that Sinnot was fighting the charges. Club is likely done with him anyway.

Garbage. Are you suggesting other jurisdictions which have much more open justice systems are cesspools of media victim shaming and unfair trials.
Suppression orders are common in high profile cases in order to protect the integrity of the trial.

Not that hard to understand.

Perhaps a lawyer here can clarify to us if the suppression order also relates to an injury? Because as far as I can tell, there shouldn't be anything stopping reports asking Chris Scott at his presser about when Bruhn is expected to return from his finger injury given that's what Geelong have been reporting.

I'll repeat, Weird how the rest of the western world seems to be able to handle sub judice ok without throwing gag orders on everything
Not sure of your understanding, but we aren't much different to most of the Western World wrt this.

🤦‍♀️

Probably because reporters aren't stupid enough to ask such a question knowing that it's a point not for discussion; plus it's likely they want to be invited back to the next press conference and that sort of question would probably see them told not to return

But what do you actually expect Scott to say in response, "Yeah, look the injury has its complexities and we don't have a return date at this stage"?

Why would they ask?

Everyone in the media knows it’s not a finger injury.

So we are on par with SA, NT, ACT.
So do you think NSW, Qld and WA are jurisdictions with more mistrials and victim shaming media? Avoiding these were your reasons to support suppression orders.
More likely, they manage to balance the competing important principles of open justice and a fair trial and better than Victoria

It goes to the heart of Geelong being extremely flexible with the truth regarding its injury reporting. Just say personal matters.

I would suggest the AFL being heavily involved with what and how it has been reported, and how it is being handled.. and also has advised the journos to stay away from it.

Everyone knows what is going on, they also aren't allowed to talk about it

That's a sure fire way to never getting a scoop from Geelong ever again.
