Cousins was banned for a year by the AFL.
Was sacked by the Eagles the day after being arrested too.

Maybe? Maybe not? The Whataboutery doesn't really help here. But we are ok with all the behavior of D. Laidley are we?
Or Ben Cousins?
Is there?
We don't know where things go from here, but if at the conclusion of this committal hearing the judge decides there's insufficient evidence to proceed with a court case and the charges are dismissed, under what legal grounds has the player "brought the game into disrepute"?
If this goes to trial & he's found guilty, then you wouldn't find a person who disagrees
But dismissing a player based on a claim that's been laid against them without them being found guilty, would surely open the door for legal action by the player against both the club and league
Dare say there would have been hundred's of footballers over the years. Grown adults can make their own decisions away from football clubs.Paying a stripper for sex in a car park is grounds for bringing the game into disrepute.
Getting caught* paying a stripper for " " ... ....Paying a stripper for sex in a car park is grounds for bringing the game into disrepute.

I generally agree with this, but the publicly indecency aspect of it would turn it from Grown Up Choice to actually a problem.Dare say there would have been hundred's of footballers over the years. Grown adults can make their own decisions away from football clubs.
Getting caught* paying a stripper for " " ... ....
Reminds me of a terrific line from the original House of Cards (UK version). Something like: "And if you do need to visit a knocking shop, make sure you find one who knows the meaning of the term "discretion". Stamper can provide you with a list if you require."100% Correct
'caught' and publicly outed.
Caught and the public had no knowledge and it would be a different story.
I've seen that one multiple times over the past monthlol last night I got a facebook ad (not entirely sure from who) for buying footy gear for grand final week. The image they had for the ad was a player badge of the guy this thread is about. Weird.
If a mid level accountant at BHP paid a stripper for sex in a carpark nobody would care.Paying a stripper for sex in a car park is grounds for bringing the game into disrepute.
That's an agreed fact that that occurred, it's not in dispute
AFL players would have standards of behaviour rammed down their throats in the annual PowerPoint presentations that public facing companies have to endure each year.
Probably not, but still a chance they could lose their job depending on the circumstances and if it made the newsIf a mid level accountant at BHP paid a stripper for sex in a carpark nobody would care.
If a mid level accountant at BHP paid a stripper for sex in a carpark nobody would care.

I would love to see what the fox footy commentators would ask him at the parade. He should be picked for the grand final or sacked on the spot!
The article mentioned the hearing would continue Friday. must mean tomorrow? as no further update came out publicly
Wow you are very important. Well done.Ive worked in admin law for a big corporation.
It doesn't matter if what you've done is a common occurrence.
What matters is that your behaviour has been publicly outed and has brought the game into disrepute.
'bringing the game into disrepute' and similar provisions are written into regulations as a catch all to give people the flick for whatever reason a corporation see fit.
There's no guarantee this will happen but it will be an option open to the AFL.
