The sad thing is that photoshop might actually suck in a few people.

edit: "pro tip" use the same font, capitalise the first letter of a persons name and make sure the timestamp for a press release announcing two major signings isn't for 9 oclock at night on a Sunday.

If they were to announce it, they would do it early this week or Sunday/Monday next week.

They wont do it at the back end of the week when the focus is on the GF. Well, they shouldn't at least.

Shouldn't try to take away this moment from the 2 remaining teams. This week should be all about the brownlow winner and the GF teams, not signings.

At least i hope its that way.

i think it will be done very quick as the club wouldnt care less about the granny and would be focused on signing him up so they can work their cap out.

Im sure they will have it organised asap behind the scenes and agree to the deal, but the announcement could be delayed. Perhaps its teh tradtionalist in me, but i think this week should be all about the Brownlow on Monday/Tues, Wed on about the two teams.

I know i wouldn't want news about a key FA, like Buddy, being a focal point off the field during the grand final week if we were in it.
 
I like the idea of messing with the media's lead up to the Brownlow and the Grand Final this weekend.
Make them earn their money the scumbags.

Carn Travis just sign already, then we can re-sign Harry, Sack and Wellers. Give me something good to feel about closing off 2012 happily.
 
Like most people here I believe it is very doubtful we are any chance of getting Goddard, but just out of interest, If we sign cloke for $800-$850 per year, who do we need to get rid of to create space in the salary cap? Too many players I would think.
 
Fair point morgoth...however I think the word will get out once Travis stops talking to others and we start approaching others.

Ultimately, this needs to be settled now. If we lose Cloke, we need to snare a Goddard or someone. But we don't know where we stand.

We have a huge need for a quality kick across half back, and Goddard is been chased heavily. If we want to enter the race, we need to know about Cloke and whether we have the capacity to do it.

We also might need both Pederson and Martin if we lose Cloke, but if we keep him we will probably only require one.


The time is now Clokey. If you want to be at the club then put your dad in his place and sign on the dotted line.
 
Agree with Morgoth but I'd go further. We should use the Cloke cap concerns as leverage in discussions with other clubs and an excuse to "have" to trade Harry. Upgrade picks to early in the draft and offload a bloke who a lot of clubs will rate but who in reality panicks and turns the ball over far too much. If that gives i=us some cap space which I suspect it will we can renegotiate and front load a couple of existing deals and get out into the freee agency market in the 2013 post season.

Which for me, is why Goldy, Wellers and O'Brien remain unsigned.

They could be used as trade bait or not brought back to free up money for Cloke if it came to such a thing.

Once the Cloke deal is done, these 3 will get their deals, be it at Collingwood or else where.
 
Cam Wood would be on 300k maybe a bit more. Tazza about $150k. Move Wellers, $250k, and Johno would be on around $400k (he either pays for base pay or we move him on). Issue is how much of this has already been 'spent'.

Next year Jolly and Dids are up and that is a million (we can re-poistion players payments to free up cash this year and make it up when these guys retire).

I have a strong feeling that we will actually be active.
 
Sorry guys don't know if it has been mentioned but David Cloke is on the Marngrook Footy show this week. May have something to do with a deal but if he was true to form, why wouldn't he go on TFS? Do they not have the room in the schedule?

Common sense, not hard to work out.

Wood was recruited to the club in a trade, you reckon we offered him chicken feed? Base wage is close to 200k for a list player. Pies also use a hierachy system which means Johno would have been looked after with part of his wage being vets.

You seem to have no concept of what an AFL player makes. Or have you also forgotten the $750k for marketing? We can spend over $8m on players with salary cap, marketing and vets.
 
I would be outraged if Wood is on $300000! Grant Thomas thinks we should re-sign Goldsack who he believes is our Max Rooke. O'Brien was one of the few PF players to try and move the ball on quickly by taking risks. Wellingham, however, can be used as trade bait after his abysmal end to the season. He is never going to be a consistently good player for us.
 
I agree with Thomas' assertion around Goldsack.

He seems to be terribly undervalued. He would be one of the first guys picked in my team.

O'Brien is a tough one for me. He has one good game, draws me back in, then does some terribly dumb stuff, and i lose interest again.

Wellingham, despite being a good player and 'required', should be on the table.

As the club and the AFL moves into FA, i don't think you can afford to have your 7th-8th best midfielder earning 300-350k, which he is worth.
 
id trade wellingham for pick 50 or better. he is a cat. he is an outside player with no skills. we dont need anymore of them!
