Damian Monkhurst is Hawthorn's ruck coach and he looks pretty happy on match day sitting in his boundary cubicle catching up with mates on his mobile. The Hawk's rucks did OK with Hale and Roughead most of the year. Jolly could probably teach the young talls the art of a rucking, but I accept the point that a specialist coach able to demand the best and fiercest from the Woods, Wests or Witts of our B&W world is what we need. Can Ottens coach? Or what about approaching Jamie Charman who is currently coaching kicking and catching for the NRL Qld Cowboys. He always destroyed our puny rucks.

Don't know how good he is, but I think Barnesy is full-time as of this past season, so we did eventually address the situation.

Toy sucks and his heart rate thing will make him suck even more

sorry he wont last in the AFL for long.

I have a leaking Bicuspid Aortic Valve in my heart and i know what Josh is going through having issues with his, i have to get an ECG done every year and stress test every two years. And i'm quite disgusted that you'd use his 'heart rate thing' against him when referring to him being a bad player.

I wish Josh the best with his heart, and perhaps maybe the AFL isn't meant for him, but if he has the fighting spirit to go on then i wholeheartedly respect him (excuse the pun)

Could ya refrain from making fun of someone's medical condition again? I'm sure you wouldn't like it if you had something wrong.

Don't mind this IDEA. I had similar thoughts when Darcy retired. I think we've neglected the ruck so much we are a lot behind. So much so it effects our present list.

One thing I think that might take us forward is splitting ruck coaches.
Barnes was ordinary apart from one or two seasons as a footballer. His best season was after he retired. The space (runner) occupier.

The games changing, we have money, it's time we delineated the two rucks.

Two clear different possies require two different coaches.

This is complete overkill. Do we need 15-18 different coaches for all of the different roles in the team? The rucks need a part time coach for the actual ball ups and centre bounces. The rest of the time they should be being coached by the main group of coaches for running patterns, strategy and none ruck skills.

Ruck skills are unique. The modern game is now changing to two different ruck types.
Yes we need at least one full time dedicated ruck coach.

We've fallen behind in rucks & now there is a new ruck position. Geelong now have Vardy coming through. Where's ours? Ceglar? Only dreamers & one eyed think he's going to make it.

The skills for ruck contests are unique, but I fail to see how someone can b employed full time to solely teach ruck skills to 5 or 6 blokes who also have to spend a great deal of time practising other skills, doing fitness and match simulation drills and being instructed on general positioning and tactics.

I also don't believe that this is a coaching issue. It's a recruiting issue to me. Do you actually think that any ruck coach would have turned any of our post Monky young ruckman into top class ruckmen?

So saw that Richmond might trade late draft pick for Aaron Edwards from North. I think he would be a great get if you could pick him up for a late rounder. Very accurate kick and good over head! Think he would be great to stick in forward line...

Thoughts?

The VFL team does need a FF, but no do not want.

He cant get a game ahead of Hansen and Tarrant so he wants to go to Richmond where he wont get a game ahead of Vickery and Riewoldt.

Am I missing something here?

I heard Edwards has severed a tendon in a finger in a bike accident. Not sure if I heard 100% correctly because I wasn't listening closely. Even if it isn't true he isn't nearly good enough to add to our list and that's just an on field assesment.

Severed tendon in finger is easily reattached with surgery & with proper physio the player is back after 4 - 6 weeks.
This was a common injury in rugby (mainly occurred during tackling, however today's tight & slippery kit has seen a reduction).
Cam Wood did his 2 years ago - didn't affect his game
