Listening to a podcast today I heat that Adelaide Lighting is in trouble again very sad for the sport and def for your state whats going on over there?. I hear that they have free entry which seems crazy to me. you have a pretty good team and the league is pretty good TBH im a Perth Member myself. there is quite a few opals and WNBA players coming though and the league is a very high standard remembering Australia came 2nd in recent World championships. if your in the area go to a game, cause they dont charge, buy a shirt or cap support these women, if you got daughters bring them along its a great atmospher it would be really sad if S.A doesnt have a team #TURNUP

They are a shadow of their former selves. In my opinion, they need to get some past champions back involved with the club and PUBLICALLY. Where is Rachael Sporn? Jae Kingi? Etc. The club seems to have no soul at the moment.

And for god’s sake, bring back Jan Stirling.

Honestly, living in Adelaide, you wouldn't even know the Lightning still existed. There's zero promotion or advertising at all, and has been for a good decade at least. There's not that much more promotion for the Sixers either, but they have a bit of advertising around and get mentioned on the news a bit at least.

Those involved with basketball in SA really need to learn to market the sport, starting with actually getting some marketing out there!

As soon as you get people interested under those terms, and then do start charging eventually, they'll be like "Why will I suddenly pay for what I used to get for free?"

The only reason you should ever "paper the house" with free tickets is so the event looks good on TV, and even then it really is paper over the cracks.

Almost seems like they are pretty doomed, At Perth I pay not over the top prices but my season ticket is still worth over $25 a game or so and is well worth it

The problem the Lightning face is that they've had numerous owners (including the current owners - who also own the 36ers), who are more focused on running the club as cheaply as possible than genuine development of the side.

Frankly, Adelaide Basketball have been a walking disaster recently - from the Mitch Creek bungle to now actively trying to destroy the Lightning. The sooner new owners who genuinely give a s**t about Lightning are found, the better.
