You don't even live in the country so you can't compare the 2.

LOL! p1ss poor come back.A lot of posters on bigfooty live overseas actually, i am actually good enough for that. You can stay under your rock and have free lunch while working in a factory :)

What a p1ss weak thread.

Firstly, they're very different players and secondly, at the same age/development McLean streets Burgoyne. After 3 years at senior level and 67 games Burgoyne averaged 13.8 possessions and 62 rating points (Final Siren), whilst McLean currently averages 22 possessions and 93 rating points at the corresponding time frame - 43 games.

You peanuts are besotted by the moment.

Give me the tough as hobnail boots leader anytime. McLean will captain a flag.

McLean at age 19 was bigger than Burgoyne at age 21.

Burgoyne is as tough as McLean too.

Fact - Brock clears the ball more often than Burgoyne

Fact - Brock has better skills than Burgoyne

Fact - Brock is a LOT tougher than Burgoyne

Fact - Burgoyne is flashier, hence why people think he may be an elite midfielder

Fact - Brock will be a Premiership captain one day. Burgoyne isnt fit to lead anyone

I thought facts were based on the truth!

If Brock does have better skills than Shaun, then Judd isn't the best player in the AFL. Ask anyone who has been bowled over by Burgoyne this year and ask them who is tougher and i think you FACT will again be a little incorrect.

Fact McLean may or may not be captain and even less likely a premiership captain, so how that can be a fact i don't actually know.

Here's a fact - burgoyne has been better in the past and is better at the moment. He's a PREDICTION - he will continue to be better.

Two different players. Burgoyne has been better this year but is different to McLean. McLean is a better tackler, has leadership qualities and is IMO a better pure clearance player. Burgoyne is faster and more likely to break a game open.
Burgoyne vs Cooney would be a better poll.

No sorry, Burgoyne is one of the best tacklers in the League and his pace means he can run more players down. I'd also tend to think he would be physically stronger than McLean due to being in the system a few more years.

In that time how many games did Burgoyne turn as either a defender or a forward? He didn't really play in the midfield til this year due to us running out of options. He was never going to play midfield with the likes of Carr, James, Francou, Stevens and P Burgoyne in there, thus his possessions (&rating points) would be down as he wasn't a midfielder.

Yup, very well said

Mclean is a better footballer than Burgoyne, and has played 2 or 3 less seasons

A fact that Port ferals cant seem to get their head around

I wil not let this Burgoyne bull**** continue, he is a good footballer, nothing more, nothing less

Burgoyne is hte opnly guy in the comp that I have to think about it when I ask "is anyone better than Judd?" and McLean is the only guy I have to think about it when I ask "Would I build a side around any midfielder other than Judd?"

Of course the answer is no to both. But Burgoyne is the better player thus far.

Disagree on both counts. McLean tackles almost as often as James McDonald - I remember last year when they combined for 27 tackles against Sydney at the SCG. In fact even just two weeks ago I think Brock had 13 or so in a match he played 3/4's of.

And Brock is stronger, he was stronger when he was 18. Burgoyne still better though. And good point about his pace.

Thats where people underrate Burgoyne.

Burgoyne is a better clearance player than McLean, averages more clearances, has the most clearances in the AFL re: Centre square clearances.

He also tackles more than McLean.

He uses it better, kicks more goals, is faster and uses his speed more, takes more bounces, helps his defence more and is a very good leader.

Burgoyne will captain the Port footy club.

McLean averages more clearances than any other player in the AFL.
Burgoyne also has two years on McLean, and don't give me crap about McLean won't develop anymore because people said that in 2004 and look at him now.

Right now there is not much between the two however Brock is younger and has more scope for improvement.

Brock>>S.Bourgoyne

Burgoyne is still a gun player.

Burgoyne is better atm but i'd choose mclean if i was building a team because he has more leadership potential i feel and is a lot younger. this isn't a very fair comparison due to age differences.
Just out of interest can you explain how you arrived at that conclusion? :)

If anybody thinks McLean is better then Burgoyne they are watching a different sport.

Burgoyne is in the top 5 players in the AFL.
