Was just having a read through the If you could pick 5 players... thread and noticed quite a few mentions of Stephen Hill. People were stating he offers an X-factor, sublime skills and elite pace. So I was thinking how does he compare to Cyril Rioli? Hawk supporters keep praising Rioli's skills. He's a year older than Hill but who would you rather have in your team?

If I was starting a team from scratch, or if you're talking about who I think is a better player, it'd be Hill.

If you're talking about who I would add to Collingwood's list right now, I'd probably take Rioli, as we could use a small forward more than a HBF/winger.

Hill's better though, so he got my vote.

They are equally skilled and dynamic in my opinion, but Rioli's history with niggling injuries puts me off slightly.

I rate them both on a similar level...

Hill has more depth and range to his game - he's extremely quick both off the mark and over distance and has more penetration by foot - given space in front of him he's the more damaging player.

Rioli's better at working in tight spaces and getting out of them with his low COG, traffic management, evasive skills and pace off the mark - he also has better nous around the goal mouth and his ability to impact with defensive pressure is outstanding - in congestion he's the more damaging player.

Both have very promising current form-lines - Hill looks like he will develop into one of the competitions best (if not the best) outside midfielders in a few years time and Rioli one of the competitions best goal kicking inside midfielders.

I look forward to watching the rest of their careers...

Rioli gets his own ball and has equal skills to Hill but can play in more positions so I'd pick him. Hill is basically an extremely good outside wingman who I would have in my side in a flash but Rioli is the more valuable player (barring recent injuries)

Which is why I'd like a "Can we have them both" option!

Rioli could become the next Ablett I feel - quick, evasive. But can he get his fitness up? I'm not that confident.

Hill is like a 100 metre player, can run 40 metres in an instant and can accurately and quickly boot the ball 50. I also reckon he'll become better at inside hardball stuff as he gets a bit older.

I choose S Hill

I haven't even submitted a vote! This forum stinks coz everybody assumes you're biased. They should really remove that label from beside people's names, causes nothing but prejudice.

Trust a Hawks supporter to say that.

Hill has more potential as a genuine game breaker, both quality though obviously.

What? How can you even quantify that?

Rioli's developing into a goal-kicking clearance midfielder, who can take a mark too. Whilst Hill's my favourite young player in the LEAGUE, I can only argue that your comment's unfounded and, well, rubbish.

Hill for me. As a Hawks supporter it kills me to say it but I would take Hill. He is the very good player we could use right now at Hawks more so then Rioli I dare say.

However based on the old "potential" tag then I think Rioli is ahead of the whole competition. That guy could literally be anything. His injury history does not work well for him though.

:pHe has taken the name of a hack reporter in Perth as his BF name. As such he can make as many outlandish and unsubstantiated statements as he likes. Wait until someone comes up with the name "Caroline Wilson"

This. I think Hill will become a genuine superstar, not sure Rioli will become anything more than a brilliant small forward who sometimes pinch hits in the midfield.

You could add Travis Varcoe & Lewis Jetta to this poll.

Hill would still win.

I reckon Cyril Rioli.

Stephen Hill is only in his first year going into his second season at Fremantle.

Cyril's into his 5th year and is already a premiership player...
