To be fair to serial_thrilla the unnamed rookie didn’t really make a lasting impression on the league with their (check notes) 0 posts on the forum.

The rule prevents clubs signing up BigFooty posters without their consent. We’ve seen phantom profiles used in the past, it’s not difficult to write one post in the SFA introducing themselves

The worst thing that happened is that none of the Wonders LG were able to get a poster to say "hey, I'm in" in a six plus week window and then somebody said "hey, that's a rule, it's a warning to one of that LG". Then the poster walked away?

All that happened today is you were saved having to edit your team list later to say "poster - delisted".

Like many rookies it was going to take time for them to warm up to the league. The key element they were interested in was the sim. They were actively participating in our team pm and I'm sure they would have been active in the match threads shortly after were they not scared off by being made a focus of a board they had yet to even post in as you mentioned.

It has been about 48 hours since the deadline passed for lodging team lists. Not everyone is on the site daily, not sure why the short sighted rush to have them post before the first game threads have even being lodged.

Out of interest, why didn’t the rookie make a single post in that thread if they were interested in the sim.

I understand your frustration, but the rules are in place for a reason. This sounds more like the failure of an LG who didn’t communicate to their rookie than the SFA.

The team had already been named when they agreed to join. They were in line to be named this week.

Team PMs should be considered just as valid as a team thread in terms of intent. I get the challenge is visibility but we shouldn't be so rigid to turn people away over a technicality. The captain should be able to prove beyond doubt to the Admin that it was as stated.

krakouers and I spent the last few days of the deadline working hard on some rookies/returned players and once we had them we did everything we could to get them to post in our team thread to make it official, to no dramas at all. It's part of recruiting... just like in-season they need to go through the sign up thread, they need to post their intent in the off season.

You've got to have a sense of humour in this place... melting out over something so minute doesn't fill me with any sympathy.

Because home teams deserve an advantage in finals by the virtue of finishing higher than their opponents, if the only ladder positions that are differentiated from one another are 4th / 5th and 8th / 9th then the vast majority of games going into the final round of the H&A would be dead rubbers.

We want to move in a direction which makes the league more similar to a realistic footy competition like the AFL rather than a random number generator spitting out random results.

Onto the BTGID charge, is there a statute of limitations relating to how long from the offence the charge must be made?

And yes, posters should have to post their consent/acknowledgment that thay have been signed to join up, common sense I woulda thought. There’s weeks to get them to post at least once and it’s not that hard to type IN or something in a thread
