I'II start off by mentioning Georgie Albert Young, 1973-78, 23y.o to 29y.o.
At 185cm-86kg, from Subiaco fc WA, but born in Caulfield, Melbourne, was a mercurial forward player.
His first two seasons were spent at H.F.
In 1975, he was moved to F.F, where he topped the Saints goal kicking chart until 1978.
In 78, he kicked 70 goals for the season, with a bag of 10, against Fitzroy fc.
He retired at the age of 29y.o., with 108 games played.
Best way to describe him, was a Trevor Barker up forward
A guy you got excited about seeing play week in week out.
One of my all-time best players.
FOOTNOTE:
Also was a handy cricketer, spent two seasons 72-73, in the Sheffield Shield team for WA.
Scored 125 against SA in his second match.

George debuted in my first year of membership (as a 14 year old).

Quickly became my favourite.

Always happy to say hello as he ran warm up laps at training on a Tuesday and Thursday night (the South Road goals became a regular detour as I cycled my way home from Moorabbin Tech)

Absolute legend
