Koschitzke was certainly the most deserving of the award. Well Done!

2002 will be Kayne Pettifer's year!

Good on ya Kossie!

He was thrown in at the deep end and has finished as the best youngster in the competition.

For an 18 year old to play as a key defender and perform so admirably is a magnificent achievement. He will quite possibly move from defence to a key forward role and who knows how good he will be.

Anyway, I'm rapt not just because he is St Kilda player but because he is a modest guy with a great head on his shoulders.

Justin Koschitzke has joined some fairly illustrious company and in 5 - 10 years time I'd like to think he will held in the same regard as other winners like Nathan Buckley.

His good mate Nick Riewoldt will make it a double in 2002. :D

Nah mate the mail is that young Trent Sporn will be given time next year for Carlton and is a real goer. OTher than that Nick Riewoldt has to be favorite for next year's award. The Saints appear to have a bright future (Certainly they are more likely to win a flag than fellor cellar dwellers Geelong or Western Bulldogs)

So it was pretty close then! The two special K's battling it out for the Rising star. Congrats to Kossie anyway. Kerr got the AFLPA rookie of the year and Kossie got the rising star. Seems pretty fair in the end.

Young Kerr may have suffered a little in comparision with Kossie due to he and West Coast going missing in the eastern States for about half the year (thanks for nothing channel 7).

Either player would have been a worthy winner and I look forward to many days in the future watching these potential champions, especially Kossie - go you Sainters:D
