Did we? Was this confirmed in exit polling?
Yes. Can't find it now, and it was post-poll research as opposed to specifically exit polling on the day, but there was a swing to Labor across the board from people who stood to be most affected by the franking credits policy. They saw Morrison's scare campaign for what it was.

The ones who were gulled by it were the morons who wouldn't know how to buy a parcel of shares in a pink fit (some who may also have been boomers, I admit).

I remember a time when progressives asked questions. I didn’t always agree with them. But I respected them.
not seeing that you do actually. Probably a result of how you have been treated tbf

fair chance video would involve the preacher man gettin pegged by a dildo with handlebars ...... others like to refer to it as a crucifix :tonguewink:

OK, here's a question from a progressive - why the phcuck do conservatives call themselves "conservative", when they believe that their mere opinions on scientific matters such as climate change and COVID treatments are as important as the actual scientific facts?

That's not "conservative", that's radically anti-intellectual.

I'm going to bed so back on Ignore with you.

I'm merely saying it's not confined to LNP states. Do you solely blame the feds or think the states should carry some responsibility too?
I think if it's happening in a lot of states it's probably less of a problem with each individual state than the overall funding of the system. If it's only happening in the odd state that would more indicate problems with those specific states. Given all the states (Liberal and Labor) are digging their heels in over hospital funding and their stance seems to be supported by multiple experts (including from pretty centrist places like the Grattan Insitute), I'm inclined to believe there is an Australia-wide issue:

I think it's also a pretty legitimate criticism of the Federal government in particular given the following from the above article:
"Hospital funding arrangements between the states and the Commonwealth have been fraught for years. During the Rudd-Gillard era the Commonwealth agreed to lift funding to 50 per cent.

But that was derailed in 2014 when the Abbott government’s first budget linked hospital funding to population growth and general inflation.

Funding was then partially restored in 2016, with the Turnbull government agreeing the Commonwealth would pay 45 per cent of the cost of hospitals, subject to the 6.5 per cent funding growth cap."

This doesn't mean that there is no blame on the states, but it seems that at the moment there is a common problem across most or all states on this issue. I would place the responsibility for this wider issue largely on the Federal government, with particular state responsibilities kicking in more where one state is behind the others, where this is the case (as may be the case in WA from media reports (although it is hard to be definitive)).

In the past fortnight shirko has -

Been defied on the floor by members of his own party

Been chastised in full view of the nation by our top intelligence official

Made himself look a right donkey over the Sydney trains debacle

Why haven't they knifed him yet ?....

They're hoping that Albo won't be able to swing enough seats and that ScoMo can thus pull another miracle out of his derriere.

If they do knife him and replace him with The Fry, the ALP should respond in kind and have Chalmers exploit The Fry's QLD weakness.

I honestly don't think the average voter will take much notice of the Ukraine crisis and it won't help or harm the government. When I bring it up, people usually ask me what is going on (that is, they haven't been watching that part of the news, if they watch any news).

Correct; it's a foreign policy issue, not a national security issue. The former never really decide elections.

What’s anti-intellectual is characterising scientific theory as “facts”.

I did before. Not so much now. That said, I don’t see the online representation of progressives as necessarily representative of progressives as a whole. Those I know in real life are not so militant although, and this is the worrying bit, they don’t seem particularly troubled by the militance of their online comrades.

could be a case of being able to control what you can control - and they see militance of the anti progressives (which I think is different from true conservatives)

But are we really seeing militance in “anti-progressives”? I ask this in a comparative sense.

It seems to me that the physicality of the various police forces both here and abroad is far greater against “freedom” protestors than it was against, say, BLM protestors in circumstances where the BLM protests have been significantly more violent and destructive.

Anti progressives as in libertarian/ MAGA type movement/ "freedumb" protests. Or counter protests (Kyle Rittenhouse)

Typical display of ignorance by a hypocritical culture warrior.

Were BLM displaying gallows and calling for hanging of politicians in Australia? No, but your 'freedom' mob did. They also pissed on The Shrine and kicked a dog, set fire to old parliament house etc which you seem to conveniently forget.

“You must now believe this!”
“I don’t want to.”
“STOP STARTING CULTURE WARS, NAZI!!!”

You're probably closer to a closet fascist than an actual Nazi, but whatever. I'm happy for you to label yourself like that.
