As a dad with young kids I find our PM very relatable. Him being a practicing Christian is a bonus. We are fortunate to have him as our PM. So much hate on this thread. Thankfully the BF & twitter majority aren't a true reflection of Australian society.

I'm not against limiting its use but it needs to be a considered decision, not ideological IMHO.

I'm no economist, so just thinking logically it should easing housing costs because first time buyers or upsizers/downsizers etc aren't competing against so many investors, who have a big advantage.
Mortgage stress is huge ATM and would be having a significant impact on consumer spending I would think. So lower housing costs should equal more disposable income.
Not sure how many millions of dollars go towards negative gearing each year, but it would be good to have that money in government programs instead of going towards building individual wealth. Maybe towards raising Newstart allowance. That should also increase people's spending power.
Obviously there are a lot of other factors involved, but this could be one that is for the greater good.
