interesting to note that ScumMo took over the social services portfolio in 2014 and changed the rules so people dying have difficulty getting the disability pension. So glad he is on our side and such a good Christian :poo: :shoutyoldman:
It's a little known aspect of the healing the lepers story, that Jesus did it to reduce the disability pension.

That is your finest post here.

Indeed so good that Chief should offer a regular prize for the best post on the Politics Board, with the winner getting a free dinner with Eric Abetz and Kevin Andrews.

then you have things like the daily terrorgraph, with this sort of thing

I thought the ABC went very soft on the coalition given the total CF that went on. Contrast the nitpicking the right wing press came up when Gillard took over

Anyone who attends a church where people "speak in tongues" deserves to be mercilessly mocked for the fool they are.
As long as we don’t mock Islam in the process!
You know how they preach against everything the west stand for
Destroy the infidel, marry & abuse a child or multiple women! Sexually and physically abuse them if they sep out of line, whilst at the same time an animal has a higher respect jab a female, etc...
But Christianity is the evil religion

Are you sure you don't have Islam mixed up with fundy Wahhabism?....Sure sounds like it.

Sneaky way to introduce Islam in the Scott Morrison thread, well done you.

They are all apart of the same hoax...I don't differentiate

We mock both religions.

Intriguing piece by Luke Beck, a Constitutional Law specialist, which brings into question the legality of the appointment of Abbott and Joyce as special envoys (to keep them quiet) under section 44(iv) of The Constitution.

Another ground for disqualification is set out in section 44(iv). That provision disqualifies anyone holding an “office of profit under the Crown”, unless the position is that of a minister.

The special envoy roles look suspiciously like offices of profit under the Crown.

The annotated version of The Australian Constitution says:

"....sub-section (iv) does not apply to the office of any of the Queen's Ministers of State for the Commonwealth, or any of the Queen's Ministers for a State, or to the receipt of pay ,half pay, by any person as an officer or member of the Queen's navy or army, or to the receipt of pay as an officer or member of the navel or military forces of the Commonwealth by any person whose services are not wholly employed by the Commonwealth"

What a pity if SloMo fell at the first appointment hurdle.

THE CONVERSATION

Even with the farcical cheer leading of Murdoch's rags they are in an indescribable amount of strife. If they can just shut up and play it straight Labor could be looking at 95-100 seats such is the public discontent with the LNP. I nearly felt a little sorry for the mess Scomo has taken on.
Uhlmann decided not to name them (presumably, no reference was made), but instead pointed out that two women have said they felt bullied in the Liberal party (Banks and Linda Reynolds) and another told him the feeling was widespread within the LNP. That matches with what Barnaby Joyce said on Four Corners when saying if you can't handle the dark arts you won't survive Parliament, and how Sarah Henderson said she felt bullied too. And of course Bishop's leaving.

I would think they probably fall under the same category as Parliamentary Secretaries.

I'll first say that my political leanings are of the left variety and I make no apology for believing in equity and fairness over greed and exploitation. Having said that, I'm also a firm believer in Democracy and the Democratic process. Either of the major parties having too great a majority for them to be one election away from opposition is not good for democracy in my view.

The Libs have trashed their own brand, they no longer represent the ethics Menzies founded the party upon, and I hope Labor ends up with a decent majority in both houses so as to make progress on pressing issues such as energy policy, start a royal commission into the influence of Jones, Hadley etc and do other important overdue work, but a 100 to 50 seat majority worries me.

Oh, and I feel absolutely NO sympathy for Morrison; a God bothering opportunist.

Religions should be treated the same as cults. No special tax breaks. They tried to define what was a religion and what was a cult on Jon Faine yesterday - got very muddled and inconclusive. Basically tried to say "religions were tried and tested" while "cults were made up by man"; well pretty much all religions came about by one person saying "god told me that this is the right way to do things"

I think the only difference between cults and religions is the number of followers.
