THey're not Presidents in Australia. At least when it's people like Turnbull as PM, Cabinet isn't dominated by incompetent buffoons.

Sure, they're still run by the same donors, but at least competently.

If SQomo offered to help run the chook raffle at the footy club, I'd say thanks but no thanks and ask somebody to make sure he doesn't go near the chook.

That's simply not the case. There's no evidence whatsoever that we are.

What we have is a unique media landscape. If the mass media protection of this government was turned 180 degrees, I guarantee this government would receive the mother of all hidings at the next election. They may not even last that long.

People simply are not aware of the morally reprehensible nature of the likes of Morrison and Joyce. They're not. They're not told about it and on the odd occasion they are, it's fleeting. It's not hammered home.

A hell of a lot of voters are simply not keyed into politics in Australia beyond the surface.

I will add the Liberal Party knows all this. It's why they neutered the NBN. It's why they give millions in public money to News Corp. It's why they actually tried to pass laws to force giants like Facebook and Google to hand over squillions to Australian mass media titans, which ensured they would.

It's a partnership, plain and simple. And it's very, very, very effective. Labor - or anybody else - cannot overcome it.

You just described a sick and depraved country.

It is the way it is because it's what we deserve.
