The op made some valid points in his write up. He obviously did his best 22 very quickly and didn't check it as it's a fair way off the mark.

I don't know, Paul Johnson starting in the ruck with Jamar on the bench sounds pretty accurate to me :D

The lack of Grimes and one of the Scully/Trengove combination is also somewhat disturbing.

That would have to be the tallest backline in history.

Good luck at CHF, Colin!

Cale wants to know why he can't get a game ahead of Clint Bartram?

No Scully or Trengove? Mmmm.....

Summary's fine but top 5's always hard to do.

Trengove is an important part of our future. Jurrah is every bit as important as Watts.

My 5 is Trengove, Scully, Watts, Jurrah and Frawley.

Matty Bate will make an excellent midfielder when
he gets the chance.

A lot of great midfielders of the comp started as
goal kickers, then have since moved into the midfield
only to be goal kicking mids.

Eg, Ablett, Boomer Harvey, Aaron Davey to a certain extent.

Ive heard a small whisper that Bate wasnt happy last year
and really wants to move into the midfield.

It probably wont happen this year, most likely it will happen
in 2011, whilst dont be suprised to see him in short spells
in the midfield this year.

love to see us line up against WB's or Adelaide with that backline.. pfft, this guy is an idiot (the guy who wrote the article, not Spirit of 39, even tho Spirit of 39 is probably an idiot too)

bate is a hugely different player to all those you mentioned! bad call, uninformed call - sorry but true

Difference is Bate is taller than those guys i don't think you can compare him to those players mentioned. With a shortage a tall forwads Bate (even tho not that tall around 191 cm) will play prodimately across half fwd this year.

I wouldn't mind seing him spend a lil bit more time in the middle this year, which i think he may of done in the latter rounds last year during our "experimenting" peroid. I see Bate playing a role exactly like Ryan O'Keefe, mobile HFFwho can gather 20 possies, run all day up and down the wings and finish of with a couple of goals.

You forgot to mention Matthew Warnock (backline) and Matthew Bate (forward) as two of our key players, but I realise you can't reel off the entire list.

Your assessment of the ruck is slightly incorrect. Jamar did not rotate with Johnson for "little to no reason", it was because he suffered several injuries. When Jamar played, he played very well, and he will enter 2010 as our clear #1 choice.

Stephan Martin is actually Stefan (commonly Stef).

The best 22 is a fairly out of whack, but nice work overall.

Meh, a preview is useless until mid pre-season cup in my opinion. We need to gather more from the off season. Besides, he's telling us what we already know.

His 22 loses to fitzroy though...

I thought the writeup was good for someone who obviously doesn't follow us, but the two things that were badly wrong was the best 22 as said before and I wouldn't have Watts in our top 5 most important players if we are talking about most important for 2010.

Is he in the most important for the next 5 years? IMO he is number one, but for next year I expect Jack to play 10-12 games and kick 10-15 goals. Remember although he'll be a little bigger than last year he'll still be skinny and he's the same age as Scully and Trengove.

The writeup is probably better than any I could do about a team other than Melbourne.

He goes on to mention he is a biased Demon supporter in the top 5 section.

A fairly good analysis but that best 22 is way off the mark,Grimes on the bench & Bartram in the team????I am expecting the Demons to suprise a few this year so long as injuries are kind to us!A minimum of 8 wins should be the target!
