A big ask and something giantroo probably hasn't done...but could you post footage of the stoppages that resulted from goals in the second q?

Really interested in seeing what the "disorganised" (BScott words) mess (Gaso words) that led to those goals.

Ah good, a actual constructive thread.:thumbsu:

Lions Goal 1

Second Q.

Stoppage on half back line. Beames runs boundary to goal.

Looks like Mullet was standing beside him prior to throw in.

Hard to tell because BT was pretty excited with the No 7 long haired face painted dude at this stoppage.

But ball comes out, no Mullet and Beames runs and kicks goal from the stoppage, outside running.

Lions Goal 2.

2 minutes later.

Ball in centre, no one standing on attacking side of centre circle...ball goes straight into Lions hands, kick to Merret...goal.

Who kicks the ball to Merret...Beames...wtf...!

Shot of BS looking disgustipated.

The final two Lions goals of Q-

Them switching to three unmanned players in the centre...we flood forward but leave three men free...goal.

Nek goal-
McKenzie gets dragged over line and gets pinged for holding the ball.

Shot of BS looking annoyed...at Umpire or McKenzie...who knows...

...ball goes into their forward line and a stoppage in their 30 metres where it spills to Green from a Levi handball...Green had a ton of space & no one got a hand on him...goal

So here's my summary of 2nd Q.

To call it 'disorganised' is a cop out.

1. Some disorganisation.
2. Lack of accountability.
3. Lack of concentration.
4. Poor defensive pressure.
5. No target at Half Forward.
6. Inability to change momentum...its crash through or crash.

Front runners!

We cruised through the first 15 minutes, Brissie fought back with little scoreboard effect, but they'd regained some control. We go into the second quarter thinking of nap time pre game and Brissie jumped us while we remained in cruise mode. The incidents above appear symptomatic of that. Momentum lost, heads dropping, effort lacking, single quarter smashing ensues.

I know I will sound like an old disgruntled man, but here goes:
Forget the 'Shinboner' stuff for a moment, it was a trademark of all NM teams that they 'attacked' the opponent who had the ball...even during Laidley's tenure it was an unwritten law.
When NM teams now find themselves under the pump it is because GOOD teams do this every time. Why is that not a trademark of us in 2014? Do not tell me Ziebell, Cunnington, Swallow, Harvey, Firrito are not hard, desperate individuals who you personally wouldn't want to upset in a dark alley, but why have we seen so little natural aggression? We are, man for man, better than Carlton.but I was impressed with their efforts last night to put pressure on players who felt the pressure and crumbled under this pressure. If we say we need hard men like Daisy Thomas and Bryce Gibbs in our team I will choke!
Why do we sit back, shake our heads, hear that things will change and then travel to Brisbane and be 'insulted'?

They did.

My Boss rang and I had to talk to him so I missed some.

Question, did you do those goal reviews from memory? Impressive if so. I just presumed that you would have watched a replay!

Gaso has a gifographic memory Yianni, allowing him perfect recall of important moments.

I get your point Gaso, but I think Bon was on the money with his assessment. I feel that lack of accountability and lack of concentration (or even lack of workrate) are causal factors. A disorganised output is the result.

The biggest indictment on our players this year has been the speed with which we drop off. Far to often have we been slaughtered in uncontested marks, and my belief is that this is tied to workrate. We don't work hard enough to apply pressure and close down the space. When we do, we look great. When we don't, we are complete shite.

Lions Goal 3

2 Minutes later.

Ball comes from back line in and then kicked to our non existent Half Forward line and Boomer has two on one...out marked and ball comes back and goal kicked.

Lions in front...all in space of 5 minutes.
I can contribute to identifying cause here. Can't recall who kicked it but boomer had 5 metres to spare and was streaming into space towords HF/wing. Ball is popped up narrow side to give time for defenders to mark up boomer who is forced to back pedal. Crap kick to a forward who has made good position.

Edit: Looked at the footage. It was Gibbo, who was also standing close to Aish when he marked prior to kicking the goal.

Goal 5. Not the cause of the goal, but an example of the teams poor discipline/concentration is Atley's effort on the mark when Aish kicks for goal. Little things count. Who's to know if he had have kept his hands in the air, this may have distracted the kicker. Never give your an opponent an even break.

Third Quarter
Goal 1.

Player on the mark strolls slowly up to the mark pointing to the mark/umpire without making it within 3 metres of the mark before the ball is passed off to Beams nek minnit goal. No player marking Beams.
