We're all grown up enough now to use the eff-word - flag.

I detected a hint of 'go magpies' in Lethal's commentating a few weeks back ... but could we ever be a popular winner of a flag?

Leigh Matthews still has the Collingwood link through 1990, so he would have a "soft spot" for us, just like he would Hawthorn and Brisbane.

A Collingwood premiership victory would not be a supported one outside of our club, we are that despised, that if we were playing Carlton (cheating hated scum by all) most neutral observers would still want us to lose.

It's the Collingwood way, we have our own supporters, and we expect nothing else from the other teams supporters then hatred and derision.

I'm fine with it, it's another factor that makes supporting Collingwood unique and different to any other team, and just adds that "extra spice" to each contest.

So no, we won't get any sentimental support if we are in contention, but hey, we are Collingwood, and that's the way we want it.:thumbsu:

Nope. But lets not get ahead of ourselves here. How many GFs have we played in since 1958? How many have we won?

Very popular among the only people who really count.

Fans are allowed to get ahead of themselves. As long as the club doesn't it's fine.

I was going to say hell no. But then I think back to 02 and there were alot of neutrals behind us. We were the great white Victorian hope after all, and the underdogs by a long way. Instead I'll just say no :p Not this year anyway.

Especially not if we are playing st kilda, bulldogs, or freo. We might get some support if it is sydney, geelong or brisbane, but still far from the majority.

Sorry for coming onto your board, but if you were playing Carlton, heaps of people would barrack for the Pies. Who wants to witness Carlton go back to the top of the Premiership pile??

You could fit most neutrals who would support Collingwood into a small car, which would make it all the more sweet.

This overriding sentiment, in my view, is what has probably cost us a few close ones over the years.

If it were the Pies v an interstate club/the bulldogs I'd definitely be cheering for them.

funny, because the Saints would have to be playing Carlton for me to cheer for them, and even then I'd find it difficult to care.

No offence to you personally, but I hate the Saints with a passion, and always will unless they formally apologise to Greening and remove any tributes they have at the club to O'Death

I'm sure they would be popular at my house, apart from that who cares about the others.

Let em' eat spoon for all I care.:thumbsu:

Friends of mine once tried to tell me that 1990 was the weakest year in terms of the strength of clubs in living memory... rest assured if we won a premiership in the next few years people will not accept it at all

Luke Ball (what is his nickname?) was asked on saturday night after the game what had suprised him the most since joining Collingwood. His answer "How much people hate them!"
