Have to agree with you frank though im tipping it finishes Mount,Skye,Doveton,Dandy
as for finals anyones pic but its always an advantage to teams whose ones dont make it. As for the eagles slump if you call it that, i guarantee mad man it wll turn very shortly, everyteam has injuries but in the space of 2 weeks the eagles lost 8 of their starting players to the ones due to injuries. 5 or six are due back in the next 2 weeks so im expecting a major turn around. I thought that mount probably been the best we came up against, although thought they may have won by more than 2 goals last week obviously missed dino and gags ,same as for skye, they were good in the first quarter but that was it, pretty even for the rest of the game and it was along way from being the strongest side we put on the park this year. Dandy was a hard fought win as usual but surprisingly Canterbury were very good when we played them in contrast to their ladder position and i didnt see the black rock game but know there were a few pull out before the game. Been alot of talk how well the yarra have picked up and am hoping to make it back for that game. Think the rockers will just miss and sandown are probably likely to stack there twos now so see how they go. they could be a smokie to get in.

In regards to us (Mount Waverley)..
we haven't fielded our best side on a regular basis or at all for that matter..
our coaching staff stated they will start playing our best side from round 12 onwards.. because at the moment everybody is getting rotated regardless of their form.. this is because they want as many people as possible to have played the minimum amount of games required to play finals.. so come finals time, we have a decent size list to choose from in case of injuries etc...
But the great thing about our side this year as 'Frankencow' has stated is our depth, because I am unsure if it was Doveton's best side playing on the weekend, but it was our 'C - Grade' side.. there was about 10+ guys who played against doveton who wouldn't be in our best 22!.. and to still beat doveton which we saw as a danger game was great result for us.
And yes it was us asking to play more teams in the comp.. especially the reserves comp.. we have TOO many players.. literally almost 20 guys miss out each week.. and I would hate to be a guy not in our best 22 come round 12 when the rotation policy stops..

Also we're looking forward to the skye game at our homeground..
we know it wasn't our best side playing against skye and everybody in our side that day was playing well below par.. we have improved quite alot since then..
but then again, skye and every other team has probably improved significantly as well.. but it would be good to see how we go against them, considering they are the benchmark of the comp.

We'll hopefully give you guys a bit more of a contest this time. Last time you guys had more cause to worry about kicking the first behind than winning. Easily the biggest smashing we have copped all year.

Very surprising to hear thoughts on Black Rock and Canterbury. We beat one and lost the other by 3 points, and we're clearly not the toughest team to beat this year. If the Rockers couldn't get past us, I can't see them in my four. Any Rockers on here? I really want an explanation for losing to Doveton and not beating us!

Very interested on how this would work in practice, but you could probably write a whole thread on it, so I'm going to start one.:thumbsu:

simple cow, it was by far our worst game of the year!! we had several players pull out on the sat morning which resulted in us starting with just 1 on the bench, our disposal was embarrassingly poor(as it was against mount last week), and we were at times late in the game undisciplined(mainly due to the cheat of an umpire mentioned on this same thread last week)! a hame we agreed to forget about. i think dandy are probably the biggest smoky, there seniors drop another couple in the next month and you can guarentee they will stack their side!

ARE you 1 of the 10+ players that played in your so called c grade side that played doveton wouldnt get a game in your reserves best 22 mount??

I'm not saying these '10+' guys or so are crap players..
they are decent footballers who can play..
its just unfortunate this year we have an abundance of players
and there are some guys who aren't getting as many games as they would like..
but our coaching staff are trying to be as fair as possible to try and get
everybody to get their fare share of games whilst trying to get a winning team out on the field..
I think I was a bit harsh calling the team that played on sat against doveton 'C grade'... the team that played against doveton would be almost just as good as our best possible team.. there's no much difference between our top 10 players and our bottom 20 players.. we were lucky against doveton.. we played above our expectations and they played below theirs.. yet we only just beat them.. we consider ourselves very lucky..

and no, I'm not one of those '10+' players, I was one of the regulars who was rested so other guys can have a run.. I'm too injury proned.. these rests have been good for me this year..

The lonewolf is in from the cold, and on BigFooty!

All I can say, from having watched this game on the weekend, was that both sides obviously had players missing. However, both sides still put on a reasonable contest, as reflected in the scores.
Not sure who MountPrettyBoy is, but I know Discotrain was missing for Doveton, as I was told that he had cracked ribs by some of the Mount players.

On a completely different note, now that everyone has played everyone else, any thoughts on what would be a "Team of the Year" in the reserves? And who is a good bet for club/league B&F's?

Big Dildo from South Yarra has been a big improver has beaten some much bigger opposition or should i say pulled there pants down.

I reckon we have a couple of candidates for team of the year:

Roddas: Ruck
Vinny: Onballer
Reecey: On Baller
Patesy: On Baller
Barnesy: Forward
Heater: Forward
DC: Backline
Gac: Backline

But my bet would be Vinny (supercoach) for league B&F

Have to agree Madman, but not sure who Gac is?

Is Duggan the Blonde No.2 from dandy?? Deafenetly a good player

And Gorman would be a certainty, but will he play anymore games in the ressies?? is 6 games enough to get into the Team of the year??

30 plus goals from 6 games at this stage of the year definite starter

I reckon that number 82 for south yarra is a gun but got the build of the tiger and the heart of the tinman and just ask him the capital of uganda he'll be able to tell ya ;)

A chance for the Rockers to knock off the Bombers with this rain about.

Mount to white wash the cobras by 10 goals even in the wet.

A top of the ladder clash next week Mount v Skye what a cracker.:p
