As previously stated the group of us that attended this game discussed the 22minute first quarter for a good 15 minutes post siren… 6 goals kicked and 2 behind regardless of ball ups and throw ins… the math didn’t even add up for the 22 mins by the time the ball made it back to the centre and it’s a big ground ! If I am HQ I’d be jumping on this asap , no doubt if any team is rolled by under a goal watch this issue blow right upI seriously question if this was even done based on seeing a 22minute quarter.
This is absolutely absurdThe league changed the ruling for the finals for out of bounds in that it was only when there was a delay the umpire would signal by raising his hand .
In the normal season the clock stopped when the umpire signalled to throw the ball in.
So they are leaving it up to umpires to decide when to call time on.
And they have to remember to do it , though they haven’t had to pay attention to it all season and now they do .
Bloody ridiculous .
The league will properly try and justify it by saying stupid like due to the travel they wanted to ensure everyone got home before dark. This is absolutely absurd

They love to shoot themselves in foot. They also need to find a better stream partner, 10 bucks to stream finals is ridiculousThe league will properly try and justify it by saying stupid like due to the travel they wanted to ensure everyone got home before dark.
Both clubs raised the short quarters issue during the game to the SFNL Ground Manager, who just happened to be the CEO.I am hearing the HQ at the SNFL are in damage control. There is a lot going on in the background and they are lucky that St Pauls have accepted the result. Honestly the SNFL administration couldn't organise a pish up in a brewery.
Now over , same for both teams , it's not like 1 team was kicking with the wind for longerBoth clubs raised the short quarters issue during the game to the SFNL Ground Manager, who just happened to be the CEO.
Didn’t even go and sit with the timekeepers to assist or oversee.
Would have thought that both clubs raising it that would be a good reason to.
Fair call - I am not across the financial details of it all.A number of clubs in WA put their catering out to tender, so they receive an upfront figure at the start of the season and the caterers come in, use the club's facilities then clean up and go home at the end of the day, while the club gets a guaranteed amount of money.
One club in Kalgoorlie has a food truck at all of its matches and at most games they will have either an ice cream van and/or a jam donut van. They make a killing each home game without putting any work into it while it is on the vans to hit break even.
I have heard of clubs in Victoria doing the same as well.
If a club hosted finals, they would no doubt engage the caterers for an extra gig or two for an agreed price.
Can't see why a club would get no money at all for catering in an instance like that.
My club outsourced this year due to struggles with volunteers. We get 10% of the gross takings. It didn’t work great and we will be looking to bring it back in house next year. The crowds in Kalgoorlie (Goldfields FL) would be roughly 1.5 to 2 times higher than SFL Div 1 crowds depending on the match.
One of the lower grade Amateur clubs in Perth chose a tender for their canteen for $5000 for the season (8 home games).
They get a one-off $5K up front before Round 1 and the caterers had full licence over what was sold and for what price (but obviously they'd be looking to sell as much as they could at a decent profit margin).
If the canteen ran at a loss or made a profit after that was the caterer's issue. If they didn't front up on a match day then there was no pro-rata refund.

Understandable point Bedford , but at no stage should Premier Division 1 Senior Football be having 22minute quarters at any stage throughout the season let alone a Qualifying Final and then to a previous Posters post that the umpiring department or league has changed the rule on the run at round 16- 17 to leave it up to the officiating umpires discretion whether they re: blowing time on and off is inexcusable and amateurishNow over , same for both teams , it's not like 1 team was kicking with the wind for longer
You would have thought that the CEO of the SNFL would have got the umpires and the timekeepers together at half time at least and told them how they needed to operate. This is a very simple thing and all that needs to happen is that everyone needs to be in sync. Basic communication. Both clubs raised the short quarters issue during the game to the SFNL Ground Manager, who just happened to be the CEO.

I want 30 minute quarters. The average quarter for the Springvale Districts and Bentleigh was about 24-25 minutes. Because Springvale Districts won by so much it was no problem. Let's see what happens if the game is close.
Either way, the question is: - are the paying spectators getting full value for money with shortened quarters?
24-25 minutes is still well short of proper time on rules even for stopping for just goals and points, 16 goals were kicked and I doubt the ball was back to the middle in 30 seconds flat or the ball back in play from a behind in 10-15seconds. For gods sake VAFA reserves football play longer quarters (flat 25s).The average quarter for the Springvale Districts and Bentleigh was about 24-25 minutes. Call me old school but I still think there’s a place for the gun midfielders to rest for 5mins deep forward. Some teams lack depth and I would much prefer my best player on the ground for close to 100% of the time than the 21/22nd ranked player. I guess Div 1 a little different re: depth. We will see what happens but if I was one of the coaches of the four teams still remaining in the SNFL competition, I would be setting my rotations of players based on 22-minute quarters. That means that the senior midfielders would only be off for 2-3 minutes a quarter at the 11–13-minute mark and not off for 5-6 minutes as you would in a quarter that ran for 31-32 minutes. You want your best team on the park for the last 9-10 minutes of every quarter. Fatigue is less of a factor.
Hendry beau or guy take your choice if even bongettiAnyone heard anything about Jewell? Just seen the pines leadership group tell swayne to step down. Pines has jewell written all over them
Surely Pines FNC wouldn’t be that stupid ? Hendry boys wouldn’t tolerate a character like Jewell. In fact I doubt any club at Premier level would entertain appointing him, ask anyone of the All Stars posters on here who know him more intimately and how their club is shaping up going forward ?? Abandoned ship mid-season not being able to handle the expectation of spending big and failing to deliver.Anyone heard anything about Jewell? Just seen the pines leadership group tell swayne to step down. Pines has jewell written all over them
