Well we may be hanging on by the skins of our kitbags and mathematically can make a third miracle happen but somehow I dont think so.

Who would give you the greatest pleasure at being eliminated from this years finals series.

Collingwood?

Or Port. There are many bridges yet to cross but who knows?? the final showdown might have two meanings. Port have a tough run up ahead and although they are receiving a healthier list as the weeks lead on to September They are still no certainties to make the eight.

Collingwood missing the finals after 2 grannies may seem more of a chance of happening, than to Port....until you look at their last 4 games.

Or do you think both / either of these sides will be entrenched by round 19.

Let the Crows shape the 8 and take the Brownlow

Ricciuto would be odds-on to win a second Brownlow if we get a few more wins on the board.

The only thing that could stop him is not winning enough games...he may only get 2 or 3 votes because he has been in a losing sides.

Not many other Crows players will be stealing votes from him though!

I may talk Pork when you speak Cow but recently Id rather talk upsets ahead.

The Crows will win more games -History shows we are late bloomers in August September.

Port rot will set in about Round 16

Yes.

Brownlow winners have no correlation with the success of their team - Lockett? Harvey? Crawford?

Because the Saints had real stinkers of years in 1997 and 1998 when Harvey won both his Brownlows...

Ah that old cunundrum.

Good teams have plenty of good players, hence "steal votes off each other".

Bad teams don't get votes.

I would say recent history suggest its better to play for a top side though.

Ricciuto, Buckley, Goodes, Black, Akermanis, Woewodin, Harvey (x2), (Grant), Voss, Hird, (McKernan)... all played for top 6 sides or better.

Crawford was the last non-finalist to get a Brownlow, and the Hawks still finished 9th that year.

I wouldn't be putting any hard earned on Ricciuto.

Going further back:

1995: Paul Kelly (Sydney) 12th
1994: Greg Williams (Carlton) 2nd
1993: Gavin Wanganeen (Essendon) 1st
1992: Scott Wynd (Footscray) 2nd
1991: Jim Stynes (Melbourne) 5th
1990: Tony Liberatore (Footscray) 7th
1989: Paul Couch (Geelong) 3rd
1988: Gerrard Healy (Sydney) 7th
1987: Tony Lockett (St. Kilda)/John Platten (Hawthorn) 10th/2nd
1986: Dipper (Hawthorn)/Diesel (Sydney) 1st/2nd
1985: Brad Hardie (Footscray) 2nd

Meanwhile Ricciuto's Adelaide sits 15th with three wins after 12 rounds.

He'd have to buck history something chronic unless we can win at least 7 of our next 10 with Roo at the tip of the spear.

I agree it's unlikely, but Ricciuto could potentially have 10 votes so far which would have him nicely placed, if we could win a few in the second half.

In our three wins Ricciuto was our best in each, as voted in the BigFooty Crows Awards thread above.
