Shaun Atley vs Luke Parker

You're right, we landed a ******* beauty in Heppell :thumbsu:

I think you will find that Heppells selection was a mistake brought about by Hirds interference.

Dodoro missed his man.

You sir are an A-grade comedian. That's almost as good as the Tigers supporter on the drafting board saying Conca was better than Heppell.

Why can't people just admit other clubs picked the better player?

Parker and I wouldn't even have to think about it.

It makes me sad inside knowing this guy was right there for the taking, and instead the name "Ariel Steinberg" was read out...

This. Save the project players later for later in the draft. Steinberg has been okay in the VFL lately, but overlooking both Parker and Christensen ... FFS.

No no no, you're getting it wrong!!! We only drafted Heppell because we draft tampered!!! We told everyone Heppell had dodgy groins so we can draft him at pick 8!! Atley will become better than Heppell, he will become the future Chris Judd whilst Heppell will be a massive flop and North have received the biggest steal since the inception of the draft, including James Hird at pick 79!

My apologies, I was thinking of Christensen who we also stupidly overlooked. Nevertheless no-one except for North supporters would say Atley.

So did you vote for Christensen or Parker?

Last year no-one except for Crows supporters would have thought Walker would be better than Hurley. Things change and Atley is building.

I think Parker has been better but I would be very happy with Atley and he'll be a very decent player. Can't believe we passed on Parker...

It's a two-horse race so Parker.

Atley is building, but I'd still take Parker ahead of him. He doesn't have Atley's pace, but he's really good at winning the hard ball.

I would think if we had our time again we would pick Atley - at the time we had planty of players drafted for their hard ball winning ability - run was much more important for us.

I would have thought with Watson, Hocking, Melksham, Dyson, Lonergan you would have done the same thing.

Dyson is more outside, although we hope Myers will become the inside mid we need.

There's nothing wrong with depth and I'd rather a workhorse in Parker over the project we have playing VFL, in Steinberg.

What if you had pick 17?

Elliot Kavanagh thanks! :p

It's easy to be a hindsight expert, but I'd choose Darling or Smith. You can never have too many good key forwards and Smith offers run and carry.

Put Isaac Smith in our side and he would be lucky to get 6 disposals.

You really don't rate Smith, hey?

I don't think finding the ball is his weakness- the fact he kicks like a donkey probably is.

That said, weren't you parading Cameron Richardson as infinitely better?

Richardson has his own disposal issues but he is a better natural footballer than Smith.

Disposal issues stemming from?

Atley could probably be included in this- due to his own documented issues. Is it a technique thing, or a decision making thing?

Judging by Atley's improvement, his appears to be a combination of both. Last year he looked like he was trying to kick the cover off of every ball, and was often blazing away. This has been mostly rectified.

Smith has a crap technique. Looks like nobody taught him to kick properly as a junior.

Haven't seen enough of Richardson to offer judgement.

Parker would play every week.

I don't mind Steinberg, I think he's got some tools to make it, but Parker is way way way ahead of our 'last' midfielder (we've normally got one of Lonergan, Prismall or NLM in there, every week).

Not uncommon, for a kid stepping up, certainly no hanging offence.
All the way through he would've been good enough (quick enough) to make plenty of space to get his kick as the firrst option, going up to AFL that's going to be harder.
