How often is it a footrace, anyway? And when it is, the player that gets it, is under pressure to dispose of the ball immediately.
Greg Williams was slow, yet was one of the greatest centremen of all time. Misiti is slow, but who cares when you get the ball 25 times a game. Quick thinking, and quick decision making, are far more important. They can make you look quick. Once you kick the ball 50 metres, it's travelling 5 times as fast as someone can run anyway. Now that's speed!
Actual footspeed, is largely irrelevant. Is Robert Harvey fast? No.
