Which is why I still can't understand why Hinkley saw out his contract. If Carr had taken over at the start of 2025, who knows how much further advanced this team would be by now?
Swans could do it with Longmire after a gf loss, and Cox had that adjustment season last season. We wouldn't be as good this season as Sydney because of the list, but another season under Carr would've been handy, instead of literally giving up in games last season.

Even if the club's claim that Josh wasn't ready last year (which I don't believe for a moment), he still would have been a better option than a cooked coach, whose only contribution in the coach's box in the latter part of the season was to don lolly teeth during a game. Hinkley admitted that there were several aspects of the job that he hated, so why not hand the reins over to a ready made coach with fresh ideas?

If Carr was coaching in 2025, I highly doubt he would have given the okay to trade out a 1st rounder for Lukosius assuming Ken and Port parted ways after the preliminary finals lost rather than waiting until it’s too late.

That's the past. It happened. The last coach didn't have the luxury of thinking long term and not all coaches have the courage to think strategically.
There's a balance between short term and long term gains.
Carr coaches to win while developing for the future.

You say given the ok but does a coach really have that power.
If you remember the deal that was put up in all this multi trade was rejected by the club not the coach.
Once they upgraded that 3 round pick it was approved by the club.
I believe the coach has some input but not as much as some people think on this forum.
Also Hinkley wanted Boak to retire but he went on another year.
Tells you something

Our biggest need is a key forward who is top tier one on one. The problem with those type of players though is that if they get a Georgiades type forward they often can't defend leading forwards. Not sure how many lumbering defenders we have in the AFL. Does anybody know what is the biggest priority I defence? Perhaps a Harris Andrews type player?

Milera was top for me, great game, could not believe with didnt Jed McEntee the guy. He was the only one giving them drive, Durdin lack of top end pace was exposed.

I listened to the post-game callers on FiveAA last night. When I got back in the car this morning, they were talking about the correct technique for putting the garbage bins out. Riveting stuff.

I put my garbage bins out as per Council directions and some idiot goes and parks a car in front of them! Maybe I shoulda rang AA and got Crowie & Co on the job? ;)

It's easy to understand really. You need to stop thinking what is best for the PAFC.

The decision to keep Hinkley on in 2025 had nothing to do with what is best for the PAFC and everything to do with David Koch's ego and need for everyone to like him

Very true, can kick them from the boundary line no problems but struggles straight in front.
That’s a mental problem not a technique problem.
It’s actually very simple.
If he marks the ball on the boundary line, he goes a long way back to improve the angle as much as possible. So he ends up kicking the ball quite a long way away from the man on the mark.
If he marks it straight in front, he kicks it much closer to the man on the mark. So when he’s in his kicking stride, the need to kick it around the man on the mark enters his subconscious (I say “subconscious” because he doesn’t seem to be aware of it) and causes him to miss almost every time from dead in front beyond about 40 metres.

So he’s allowing the man on the mark to really “get into his head” just as he’s about to kick for goal. He needs to learn to kick the ball from a couple of steps further away from the man on the mark than he’s used to doing, probably since juniors.

And he needs to practice this enough so that he does it without thinking. That’s the difficult part.

It’s lack of belief and lack of leadership. Absolutely no composure when it’s needed has happened for years in big games. The more you lose the worse it gets.
It’s probably just a lack of rehearsing end-of-game scenarios because Ken was too lazy or too stupid to do what every other club probably does. At least, every successful club.

Plus that ARC review that overruled the umpire's decision when the ball was 5 metres above the goal post. There's no way in hell that Crows' goal should have ever been overruled. The crowd was right to be furious.
On the other hand, there’s another Crow goal, I think in the 3rd quarter, that seems to have gone unnoticed.

Brayden Cook, the Crow who kicked the winning goal, took a mark in the middle of the ground in front of Jacob Wehr. He shoved the ball in Wehr’s face, then gently bounce the ball off Wehr’s forehead, causing it to falll to the ground. The umpire saw the ball on the ground, but clearly didn’t see how it got there, and awarded a 50m penalty. And Cook’s kick led directly to a goal, I think by Rachelle.

This was one of several umpiring interventions that stopped us being able to covert a defensive intercept into a scoring chain, and increased the pressure on our defence.

Yes, David Koch was at the heart of Hinkley's appointment and his length of tenure. I would have liked to have overheard the conversation when Ken told Koch that he was pulling the pin. Maybe it was the other way around- who knows?

Yes, that wasn't a 50m penalty and poor umpiring decision resulting in a goal for Crows. But they won't speak about that one.

Also the ARC review was 100% Accurate. The ball would of hit the post OR cross for a behind.

The crows and supporters and media can't complain about that call being made and correct by ARC yet complain still about the keays goal against Sydney. They say trust the umpire here because he has the best position yet FAIL to remember the hypocrisy of not trusting the umpires decision that game.

I'm glad the ARC overruled that goal. It was clearly a behind and Solido knew hence he didn't celebrate properly until goal umpire signalled.

I watched the last 5 minutes of the game as I wanted to see all of the good things and all of the bad things that the Port players did. I had come in with Sweet doing a couple of stupid things which he did but he also did some good things as well. I just wanted to see who was clutch and who melted under the heat of a Showdown.

What I did see was when we were down, we got the call on the umpires and then when we were up, the Crows got the calls from the umpires. It was like watching the WWF or WWE or WCW or whatever it is.

Hey, 66.
You know that “6 of their best 22 out” thing you keep bringing up?
Would that 6 include any of the 3 of your Crow “stars” who were omitted at selection?

That is correct, the ball was shoved in his face. ARC have side on with front on simultaneous footage, they would not have overturned on a guess
