Monkeyboy said:This is a good one. Have to go Raines as he has achieved more and is younger. The hype about Simpson is getting hard to ignore however. I have a feeling Simpson will have a massive 07. But for now, it has to be Raines.
) however Raines's year in 06 as a 20 year old was more impressive than Simpsons as a 22 year old. Unbiased Carlton fans will agree with that. I just think that Simpson has improved so much in the last 6 months and there is a good chance he will become a great player in the coming years. Sometimes players mature a little later and i think Simpson is one of those. What a ridiculous thing to say. He didn't win, he wasn't good enough. If Marc Murphy hadn't got injured, he would have taken it but he got injured, so he didn't. You can't say someone would have if they didn'tRicho83 said:Raines is winning, slowly but surely 19-15.
My reasoning for voting Raines:
- Raines is younger, 20 to Simpson 22, and so has more improvement.
- Raines seems to be more attacking and able to set up plays, while Simpson is a good player he doesn’t have the attack on the ball that Raines does, Raines is quite willing to get the hard ball and doesn’t shirk a contest. Simpson isn’t able to give Carlton that attack that Raines does give to Richmond
- While Simpson is nearly two years older than Raines, he only gets the ball 1.1 more times and only takes 0.6 more tackles. When Raines is 22, he will perform much better
- Simpson hasn’t played this well as Raines at such a young age. When Simpson was Raines’ age, he was still a relative unknown. If it hadn’t of been for Pierce’s wonderful season (deserving winner, I concur) Raines would have won the NAB rising star, Simpson hasn’t come close.

and parrot reckons simpson ahs more natural talent and upside, and well generally when it comes to talented young players you get what parrot says and the truth is 100% opposite to what it saidTheBacko said:Raines has already shown more than Simpson, yet he is 2 years younger. Says it all really.
