how did Blicavs make it? his last half of the year has been very poor

Because he's had another very good year and done the job asked of him.

Could his disposal be better - yes, but too many people seem to equate his occasional not great disposal as meaning he hasn't been great.

Thoroughly deserved selection in the squad

That's fine at a club level, it doesn't necessarily mean you're the best key defender in the competition though.

No it hasn't

he was doing something dumb that cost a goal most weeks and then a couple of average efforts as the ruck (why move him to the ruck if he is doing so well in defence?)

1st half of the season was very good, second half pretty average

And he hasn't been named in the final side yet - just in the short listed squad which is a deserving accolade.

Every defender gets goals kicked on them at some stage - no one goes through the season with a totally clean slate

Danger is a certainty.

Ablett 90% chance. Only way he misses out is if the pull some BS with midfielders in the forward line or whatever.

Kelly doesn't deserve to make it IMO. He will though due to the hype.

Stewart should make it but faces tough competition for his position.

Blitz and Hawkins are no chance. And nor should they be.

For mine -

* Dangerfield, Ablett in the final 18

* Kelly perhaps on the bench, I won’t be surprised if he misses as some other mids have had brilliant back ends to the season (McCluggage, Dunkley etc)

* Harris Andrews a lock for FB so Blitz is competing with McGovern for CHB - 50/50 chance to make it

* Stewart should be a lock in one back pocket, Hurn in the other

* Can’t see who will displace Hawkins from the final 18 - J Cameron is a lock for FF but the only other key forwards in the squad are Brown and Darling and I wouldn’t pick either over Tom
