Kevin Sheedy, Why not start hille in the goalsquare instead of the bench when you started with welsh, davey, rama and lovett with a backline like Geelong's. frustrates the shit outta me.....I could of done a better job last night

Welsh was awesome in the First Qtr at FF. Sheeds made an awesome move there. I dunno what your on about but that was great coaching.

Our forward structure clearly worked for us early.

Welsh should have kicked three in the first quarter.

dont get me wrong welsh was fantastic he is my fav player i got nothing against him. but if it was put in the air, harley, scarlett and egan would come over the top and punch welsh had to get his goals under pressure and he was playing on Tenace not the best player going around

He was playing on Tenace because their was a mismatch. Sheedy knew that so he put Welsh at FF. That obviously worked out as Welsh kicked 2 goals and should have had his third.

Could of sworn I saw Welsh take three marks in the forward 50.

The Geelong defense was rattled. That set up was about the only thing that worked for us all night. We had mis-matches everywhere.

Lovett was good early, set us up a couple of times whilst on Harley.
Rama shutdown Milburn.

Playing on Tenace, Tenace is shit anyone could out mark him.

I know it's old, and I also know that it's easy to blame him. Thats because he was blantantly bad last night. Watching him last night was painful. People say he's quick, I thought he looked sluggish, his decision making was woeful, and if he's supposed to bust packs why were people saying he was soft on my way home?

CJ, seriously mate, thanks for everything, but it's time to go.

Didn't see the mark he took over Egan and Lucas?

If a bloke kicks two goals in the first quarter, and misses an easy third, then the move works.
i said nothing was wrong with what welsh did i said that we were too small and didnt have a tall target to do for..

It worked until Hird injured himself. I wasn't at the game sadly and had the benefit of watching it on TV so I could see the one on one matchups. When Ling was playing on Hird that allowed Welsh to play forward, but when Hird got injured Ling went forward and forced Sheedy to play Welsh in defense.

Thompson wised up a bit late in the first quarter when he put Harley on Welsh and Milburn on Lovett.

Before this, when Davey broke his arm, Davey created a mismatch of speed. I can't remember exactly who he started on. If it was Wojcinski then I'm mistaken but it could have been Milburn.

Anyway, From the first bounce Egan was on Lucas, Tenace was on Welsh, Harley on Lovett and Rama was keeping Scarlett away from the play. This was a great scenario for us but was messed up due to the chain reaction of injuries.

IMHO, Geelong were not the better team on the night until our key injuries. They became the better team by default.

No, it didn't. Scott Lucas couldn't even get in front. Most of the time that the ball went in, it rebounded very quickly.

How about we blame the boys for a lack of passion last night? :(

Could also blame poor delivery at times, Lucas had an off games despite kicking 3 and we had 12 goals early in the third against the best team in the comp, it worked, they were too good in the end

i seem to notice that cj may be leading and noone kicks it to him so he keeps running and making more leads and they still ignore him, even though everytime the ball was kicked to scott lucas he couldnt mark it they still looked for him before cj.

Blame??....

Let's start with Johns...3 marks. Not good enough.

Dyson....and his style of running without thinking clearly about where he is going to give the ball to a team mate who is in a better posi...than himself.

Mal Micheal...1 mark..???????

Hille...1 mark...not good enough.

Rama...can't blame him really..but he did struggle. A gamble that didn't really come off to well for us.

Mcphee..13 kicks,8 hb,11 marks and 6 tackles..sounds good on paper, but if you look at the mistakes he made during the match and the poor attempts at the ball when he was in the backline... it's not good a good performance.

In regards to CJ, we needed a powerful forward in the mould of Lloyd and he fits the bill...hence his inclusion.

Lazycock was back to his lazy best yesterday.

Dyson....pretty sums it up for me after yesterday's ordinary effort. He really needs to step up and virtually put in outstanding performances to keep his spot in the side next season.

We're still a big chance against the Doggies provided Fletcher and McVeigh are available.

Aside from the end result, it was a gallant effort last night and they didnt disgrace anybody with their endeavour for 3 qtrs.

Then you're very much kidding yourself.

Scott Lucas playing behind wasn't because of our forward setup, only Scott Lucas can be blamed for that one.

Lloyd was out of the side, our forward set up allowed Welsh to have three goals at goal in the first quarter, it allowed Lovett to expose Harley, it allowed Watson to make an impact early, it allowed Rama to take Milburn away from Lucas.

It means that for the majority of the first quarter, Johns and Lucas were able to compete one out. We had 7 scoring shots in the first quarter, we had a scoring shot for every two entries, that's pretty damn effective.

Good observation Longy.....

CJ should be banished to the VFL for the rest of the season unless we have major injuries. He needs to learn how to play the game and get full games under his belt. Time is fast running out.

Dyson should be put to pasture now and we need to give games to Hislop/Houli/Lonergan/Reimers for the remainder of the season.

Heck even Bolts of Heff should be getting a game before Dyson.
