Finally classic 2D Sonic is back (wasn't a huge fan of the other 2D rebirths on Gameboy/DS). It's a continuation of Sonic1/2/3/Knuckles so hopefully that means no convoluted storylines with 500 different useless characters.

I doubt it but hopefully they also capture the music of the Mega Drive games, some of the most catchy, and actually good quality tunes in video game history.

I don't know about you guys but this is my most anticipated game for 2010 now.

sega really needs this to be a success...

its sad when the only thing keeping them from bankruptcy is Sonic and Mario at the Olympics

will definitely be getting this game, can't be any worse than the first Sonic to come out on PS3, and this looks like it is going back to it's root...

Either way, can anyone tell me where I can download Sonic 1-3 for PC? a PM would suffice.

I assume you mean the classic Mega Drive games?

It's easier to just download the roms.

Google genisis emulator download one. I'm not sure which one is the best.

Google sonic roms.

This is assuming of course you are only backing up the copies of the games you already have, otherwise it's illegal.

Looks like absolute rubbish. Sonic exists only in name now, the outstandingly talented Sonic Team members who gave him a quality identity and served up the gameplay we all came to love are long gone. He looks ridiculous these days as well, get it back to the Sonic of old, the black eyes, the mischievous character rather than this joke of an emo hedgehog. There is so very much wrong with the franchise, if they somehow turn it around with this game I'll be gob smacked. The handheld titles are hollow and lacking in inspiration and heartfelt art direction, the console titles are just all-round disgraceful.

What's sad is that a lot of the non-Sonic Team talent is still around, they're just no longer handed the important roles their talent demands and the lack of its own hardware platform has killed Sega's genre innovation and creation strategy. AM2 is (somehow) still firing, and occasionally other teams find a spark and spit out a couple of quality obscure Japanese arcade titles, but overall things are a mess. The consistently edgy, wacky and innovative Sega died with the Dreamcast. Excellent titles like the original Super Monkey Ball, Jet Set Radio Future, Panzer Dragoon Orta and GunValkyrie were all simply carry-over titles yanked from the Dreamcast pipeline.

Sonic Team's track record post-Dreamcast is beyond pathetic, I wouldn't be expecting much from this latest Sonic entry. Calling it Sonic 4 is a low blow to fans who have been waiting so long for Sega to get their act together and restore the franchise to where it should be. Honestly, if it turns out to be a high quality game, I'll change my bigfooty signature to anything requested by people on this board. There is no chance it'll be a return to form for the franchise.

You could always invest in the "Ultmate Sega Mega Drive Collection" out on ps3/xbox360 - it's well under $50 now(if you have either console, if not disregard my suggestion). You also pickup many other classic Sega titles in the collection.

The Sonic games are also being ported over to the Nintendo DS, despite having purchased the games over and over again on multiple platforms (mega drive, ps2, 360, pc etc) i'll jump at the chance to buy them again - it will also give me an excuse to dust off the DS and start using it again.

There's a special edition here too.

Probably not worth the extra $20 for a cheap Sonic figure (you can buy tonnes of Sonic merch anyway) and some old school art cards. Although the old school art cards look tempting.

I played them all again on roms a year or so ago (I actually do have copies of all the games) and completed 1, 2, 3 + K all over again. Also got all emeralds with every character.

Hey I actaully do have all Sonic's + Sonic and Knuckles on Mega Drive! Just cbf dusting off the old Mega Drive...

I got the emulator and already smashing Sonic 3 with Sonc & Knuckles... finished Sonic 3 with all the emeralds... but then found the MAME emulator and started playing Raiden Jet Fighters. Haven't turned on the PS3 for a week now!
