So the upshot of all that is we sign him to a high two year contract, then halfway through year 2, we extend him and years 3-5 are at a lower amount.
exactly. in all reality its no different. you can still rig it. We will want to go really high in the first two years anyway while we have cap space - especially 2026. we really cant lose. in two years he will be 30 and we may not want him anyway if he wont accept a more reasonable pay packet and we are trying to find cash for a superstar.

The Brisbane board is interesting reading, it's literally toys out of the cot type stuff from some of their posters.

Ben Williams is an idiot
Crows are a shit club
Crows supporters are dumb
Justin Reid is an idiot

Yet they keep talking about posters here being unhinged

When you have a sustained run of success, supporters become entitled and they look down on other clubs. The fact that they wouldnt be even close to that position if they didnt score 3 of the top 5 father son recruits in the last 30 years appears to be lost on them. So their opinion is a ****ing joke and frankly they have no right to claim a superiority over anyone. That club has been consistently the biggest joke in the AFL. Had two good periods and they act like this? please!!

according to reports The Crows can negotiate his contract upon his drafting, probably to the same agreed upon terms prior to the failed trade. Technically all clubs can do it, but if he isnt communicating with any other clubs then they will have to abide by it the terms he is drafted under.

you can imagine some of the crazy terms they could put in there to put everyone off.
1) will only live in adelaide
2) trains only in place of residence
3) will only wear afc merch other than during matches where he will wear club official jumper
you could have a lot of fun with it 🤣

Wrong !

You don't like coming into threads by back reading recent posts .....this is just a pure fictional post, with no basis

Well that would be wrong.

Players who were previously on an AFL list are able to specify terms when nominating for either the ND or PSD (or both) for 2 years. Any team who drafts them is contractually bound to those terms.

One would expect that the terms he specifies when nominating for the draft would match what Adelaide offered him when they enticed him to nominate Adelaide as his preferred trade destination.

There is nothing to stop another club from drafting him, if they have enough room in their salary cap to cover his specified terms. As you say, that's unlikely, but there is nothing to stop it from happening. You have to go back a long way to Camporeale to find an example of a club gazumping another in this fashion.

Players can specify their salary for the first 2 years when nominating for the draft. They can't specify conditions of the type you described. It would be fun if they could...

FWIW, the 2025 AFL Draft Booklet, which includes the draft nomination form that players need to complete, is attached. You can see for yourself what players can & can't specify.

No different to the Crows Board at times .....or for that fact every Club Board

So to insinuate that one board is not guilty of the same inane comments is a bit rich

You missed the point of my post.

I am not saying that we don't make similar comments, I am pointing out the hypocrisy of them accusing us of being "unhinged".

Yes, but every supporter of every club calls everyone else unhinged ....whilst believing they are the rational thinking supporters

Except for this board right??

We’re the best and everyone else’s board sucks and is full of crazy people!!
The only Boards, where there isn't club biases are the Fantasy & SuperCoach Boards ....there, supporters from all Clubs are harmonious, and there's zero negative interaction .....and i mean zero

The funniest thing with these supporters is they obviously think their opinions on football have greater weight because the team they support happens to be good.

got it entirely off the experts who broke down how Carlton went to the PSD only to negotiate the contract with them after they posted a huge bounty upon his drafting...ooops maybe it isnt as fictional as you pretend it to be. If you are frightened another club will draft him, doesnt make everyone else wrong.

Its not wrong. Any player drafted onto a list can renegotiate the contract if they want to. This is 100% what Carlton did. So pretending its wrong doesnt make it so. I also got this off one of the expert draft shows with Twomey who broke down the huge Carlton PSD to avoid other clubs stealing the player.

Check the rules ....you were wrong .....stop trying to defend the indefensible drivel you're putting out

You've admitted b4, you simply make stuff up

nope im not. look it up!
I think your correct except im not sure we could renegotiate the 2 specified 1st 2 years

Absolutely it’s clear though that day 1 we could turn the 2 year massive $$ deal into a 5 year deal totaling the original agreement. That is that years 3-5 are on a minimal amount after honoring the inflated 2yr nominated amount.
