FFS he had issues , some of which got a tub of mayo slapped on by the media

He has his shit together , has done for a while now

His contract is on par with Trac who is 2 years older

I would not hesitate in chasing Oliver. A player like that to mentor Draper, Soligo, Curtin and Dowling etc. Go your hardest.

Possibly makes more sense of why we cooled on Stevens as well, as similar contested bull to Oliver however lacks the class of Trac.
So if we knew we were more likely to get Trac, that would've made sense to go after Stevens but if we knew we were more likely to land Oliver, Stevens becomes redundant

Plan B? Doesn't have our name to it what so ever but something to go for if Trac nominates GC

I really don't get this statement.

'The coach will outline a new set of plans for Oliver, which might not be to Oliver's liking.' - what does that even mean? Training with more intensity or something along those lines? If he doesn't like it at Melbourne then which other club is going to happily put their hand up knowing that? A different role with less midfield time? Seems unusual if you're going to lose Petracca and have Oliver playing on such a big contract when he isn't capable of playing elsewhere - unless they want to go with their silly suggestion of a few years ago and have him spend time off HBF.

There is no way we can know if Oliver has his "shit" together as you put it. And even if that's the case there is no guarantee he won't relapse given his checkered history..

You’d be mad not to go for him if it only was for a 2nd or less though, given the state of our midfield

Reads like HR preparing to put someone on a management plan

It means they're pushing Oliver out. Not that complicated.

It means the Demons don't share Viva La Mattner's confidence that Oliver has got his "shit" together and Stephen King is in a way better position to gauge that.

We definitely cooled on Oliver -because getting Trac to Adelaide has been in progress even before finals {mid year)

If we do miss Trae - does Oliver become a target ?

Geelong were keen and they will have the Curnow cash if they miss out on him

Disagree, if they're looking to rebuild on the fly then capitalising on aging players at peak value is when you trade them.
This year, Oliver at his full salary is worth a F2, next year even less. Argument can be made to take on some of the salary and get a late first.
If they're prioritising youth, they are looking at Langford to be the primary in that role, therefore pushing Oliver out of the midfield. A year of Oliver playing HBF makes his value even less again

Reads like a club looking to get rid of a player.
Reads like a player that the Demons and the coach have no confidence in keeping his "shit" together and having further issues going forward.

Did Clarry run over your dog or something?

Made it clear you can't stand him

Considering he hasn't relapsed in that same environment, I back in our player welfare and sports psychologists

Or they are going full rebuild mode with May, Trac, Oliver and McVee out the door.

They don't have a pick in this years draft which according to Dees was a planned move but will stock up before Tassie comes in. This is the last chance to bank some talent before Tassie and if they think this group can't do it then rip the band aid off.

I don't think it has anything to do with Clarry personally but if they can move his money and open up opportunities to pay some FA's or younger kids to hang around they will be in a better position in a couple of years time.
